Twice today, both on Meet The Press and when he was iterviewed outside the studio, Colin Powell said that the republicans are running a campaign claiming that Barack Obama is a Moslem. Powell says this is "unacceptable".
I agree, it is unacceptable for someone supposedly as experienced as Colin Powell to manufacture this slander out of thin air. We follow this election pretty closely, and neither McCain or the GOP has EVER even hinted that Obama is Moslem.
In the same sentence, Powell disnissed both this imaginary GOP campaign that Obama is a Moslem, and dismissed the charge that obama has associated with a terrorist.
Powell is either dangerously misinformed or engaging in deliberate slander.
When I heard this fanasy "Moslem" charge straight from his own mouth, I lost all respect for Colin Powell. And Powell is wrong about Ayers as well.
He is no more a Republican tha Edwin Brooke was. Why he remains in the party is a mystery. His animosity may run just past Bush and company. He was never invited to the run for president party and never will be as a Republican.
Any respect that I have had for Colin Powell has been flushed down the toilet. In the past he had a reputation as a “soldier’s general”. Since leaving the Army however, he’s apparently been taking sips of the liberal Kool-Aid. And now the Kool-Aid has taken effect. His brain is gone. He is now assimilated by the liberal collective.

I agree with you. I am disgusted. What do our military freepers think of this? I am going to throw his book away; in it he talks about the lack of respect the Clinton White House had for the military. What does he think an Obama White House will?
From what I recall, Powell drew up plans to invade Kuwait which were a disaster. It took Schwarzkopf rewriting the plans into something workable that made the invasion a success.
It seems that Powell has taken full advantage of his race throughout his career. He is as much a Republican as David Gergen.
So why doesn’t Colon Bowell announce a party switch to the Jackass party?
I don’t know that Powell ever said he was a republican.
Powell is a traitor to his party and unless obama offered him something, his political career just got flushed down the crapper.
In the sixties there were lots of “hippies” in the miltary who agreed with Ayers. Powell may have been one of them. I was in from 69-70 and I saw it often.
If it weren’t for Bush no one would even know the ingrate Powell . The GOP has produced the highest ranking cabinet appointments of blacks in the history of our country and this is the thanks . Powell is a political transvestite, a real girly man in my book .
Powell would not have his position in life today if it were not for President Ronald Reagan. He put General Dufuss into positions as his military specialist. A republican got him his high standing and a republican gave his a chance as a failed Sec of State. His way of showing his appreciation is to ENDORSE A MARXIST!!!!!!!!!!! He slapped every cold war veteran in the face today. We served and fought the communists. As did Powell. How quickly he forgets. HE SIMPLY FOLLOWS THE RACIAL ROAD AND ENDORSES THE BLACK GUY. Powell is a buffoon. I have never liked him. EVERY soldier I ever served with that had served under Powell at any time liked him. He was a political general. Not a soldiers general. He was in it for himself and all he could gain. I know that I and several others that were on active duty back during Gulf War I was not impressed by the guy. TODAY HE HAS LEFT NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that he supports Marxism for the USA with this endorsement. May your soul rot in hell Powell. You certainly pissed on my spit shined boots today.
Colon Powell is not worthy to tie the bootlaces of Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf. Not in the same league, period!

Not say I am surprised. Powell was never a Republican, much less a Conservative. It seems that for many like him, skin color trumps country. Shame on him. Better he should have remained silent.
I never thought the “Powell Doctrine” was anything but a ruse anyway.
Oh and by the way, we will remember those who stood for our country and those who stood for the star of the moment.
