Obama breaks fundraising record
BBC ^ | October 19, 2008

US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama raised a record monthly total of more than $150m in September, his campaign says.

The figure brought Mr Obama's total fundraising to $605m, dwarfing the total of his Republican rival.

Mr Obama has opted out of the US campaign public financing system.

Republican candidate John McCain chose to remain in the system. It limits him to $84m for the September-October period, ahead of November's election.

Mr Obama is the first candidate not to take public financing since the system was introduced in the mid-1970s, and as a result he has no spending limit.

Don't you find it odd that Senator Obama's polls are not in the high 80 percentile, considering all the many millions he has raised so far? Something about his campaign doesn't sit right with the American voters. $605 million and the race is still tightening. Today's Gallup poll shows it as O49 M46 amoung traditional voters.

Where in the hell is all of this money coming from? I can’t believe that it is all from the U.S. You talk about trying to buy an election.

Check your credit card statements. One never knows who might be a donor.

Congratulations Barak. That will be your footnote in history. Enjoy it. I don’t know what history will say about you spending all this money and then losing the election, but congratulations just the same. lol.

You can bet that the Republicans won’t let it happen again if Obama wins. Future Republican candidates will go all out with fundraising...and you can bet the media will whine about it then.

America still has the best elections that money can buy.

I believe that title's wrong. It should read "Obama breaks fundraising laws"

Please, please have it come out that way, what a satisfaction to see Obama lose with all of these advantages, there will just be too many fun stories to read, too many MSM pundits with horrible looks on their faces, it will be so much fun.

And then to listen to every conservative talk radio host the day after, please make it happen.

Obama must lose.

If a Republican was raising this much money, the left would be SCREAMING about rich, white Republican donors.

His money is coming from dirty sources. Middle eastern money. Untrackable by credit cards and breaking FEC rules.

Look for Vera Baker in Martinque. Check and see where ACORN got its money. The FBI needs to audit ACORN

DNC is crooked and corrupt. They want power at all cost even if it destroys America.

What is going on Can we be fooled by Islam!

makes it a lot easier to grab foreign funds, huh?

It's easy when you have friends like Soros who are more than willing to share part of the money they made churning the markets with their hedge funds in order to scare seniors -- and friends like the Fannie and Freddy Bosses who are willing to share part of their wealth gained by fleecing taxpayers with pitiful subprime loans -- and friends like all those living in foreign countries who want to see Barry in a position to give away American wealth -- and friends like the Muzzies who want to see the Religion of Peace reign supreme -- and friends like Castro, Chavez, Putin and the ChiCom's who want to see the U.S. weakened so it may be conquered -- etc.

In fact, I find it odd Barry could raise only $150 million last month.

"After mutually agreeing to campaign only on federally provided funds, limited by a bipartisan reform law sponsored by Senator McCain...Mr Obama instead opted out of the US campaign public financing system. Republican candidate John McCain chose to remain in the system because that's what he said he'd do.
(Thereby proving just how trustworthy Mr Obama is and just how smart Mr McCain is.)

Saudis, Muslim Brotherhood (Saudis), etc.

No whining people Volunteer and donate plus ignore the polls. The BBC is incredibly politically correct. their views is all whites are evil and all blacks are saints even Mugabe, Kofi and Barrack.

Expect more and more stories to try to depress our turnout. This is a global socialist takeover. Islam is fighting back with mega oil money to Barrack.

Everybody - Volunteer & Donate.

Make sure we are all at local McCain HQ helping out with GOTV the weekend before the election.

Why doesn’t Barry take all the money he seems to be so good at raising and pay off America’s debt.

After all, doesn’t he want to “spread the wealth around”?

if hedge funds techniques were allowed in retail mutual funds and not just for ‘the rich’, we’d see a more efficient market and much less opportunity for manipulation of the market by a few big players.
