You are wrong in your assessment of God’s hand in our choice of President. According to the Word of God, God is sovereign; He does according to His will in the spiritual/angelic realm as well as with the inhabitants of earth. Almighty God is the one who determines the course of human history and the rulers of the kingdoms of earth. He alone is the One who establishes and removes kings (Dan. 2:21; 4:35)

“By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice.” “By me princes rule, and nobles, All who judge rightly.” (Proverbs 8:15-16)

Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven; Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding. (Dan 2:19-21)

“All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And among the inhabitants of earth; And no one can ward off His hand Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’(Dan. 4:35)

I love America with all of my heart but we must be honest with ourselves. America was founded as a Christian nation and built upon Judeo-Christian principles. While there are many in America who have faithfully believed on Christ and continue to walk humbly with their God, they are a remnant and no longer in the majority. Sadly, as a nation America has sinned and continues to sin against God in ways too numerous to count. The majority of Americans have turned their backs to Him and followed after false gods of our own imaginations and after false ways. We have purposed to drive any recognition of almighty God out of our schools, our government, and out of our public and private discourse.

Multitudes of our churches are led by name it and claim it, health and wealth hucksters and by those who have exchanged the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ for the power of positive thinking; for the purpose-driven business models of mere men, for anything and everything but the person of Christ and His one all sufficient sacrifice for our sin upon the blood stained cross.

Once evangelical denominations are being led and guided by practicing homosexuals and perverts. By men and women consumed by their own sexual lusts who are leading multitudes to wholesale destruction and eternal damnation. The “Emergent church” movement in America is actively engaged in so perverting and compromising the very foundational doctrines of Christianity and the Gospel of Jesus Christ that the church is in the process of being rendered useless as a testimony and as salt and light in our society.

God is not mocked; it appears we in America are reaping what we have sown for decades and the truth of Romans 1:18-32 is a faithful description of what has been and is taking place throughout our land: It appears that God is “giving us over” to our own ways and desires:

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

It should come as no surprise that God appears to be giving America over to the control of Obama; a man who is the very antithesis of everything America has stood for since her inception.

While this assessment of the situation seems hopeless, God is still on the throne and He does provide a remedy:

“If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2Chronicles 7:14)

Whether He will choose to deliver us at this time is solely His prerogative. But for our part, we can pray:

God, please have mercy upon America, please, for Christ's sake forgive us of our sins against You and if it is Your will, please deliver us from this evil and from the outcome of our ways. We humbly ask this in the blessed name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, amen.
