Palin smiles as Saturday Night Live mocks her anew

After watching "Saturday Night Live" make fun of her from afar, Sarah Palin witnessed it first hand this week as Tina Fey engaged in fiction by depicting her at the news conference the Republican vice presidential nominee has yet to hold.

Later, Palin came on stage during the Weekend Update mock news segment and bobbed to the beat as cast member Amy Poehler performed a rap song the Alaska governor decided was too hardcore for her to perform personally.

"I'm Jeremiah Wright 'cuz I'm the preacher; I got a bookish look and you're all hot for teacher," Poehler rapped as actors dressed as Eskimos, Palin's husband, Todd, and a caribou pranced across the stage.

Compared to Hillary SNL appearance she was much more at ease and in command. Hillary looked spooked and uncertain. Palin looked comfortable and poised. She was commanding throughout without seeming stodgy.

I agree... BIG difference between Sarah's and Hillary's performances.

Sarah was fantastic. Did you see the end when someone announced or thanked Tina Fey, Sarah turned to face Fey and clapped extra hard for her. I think Sarah walked toward her, but Tina (who can't stand Gov. Palin) wouldn't go near Sarah. Another actress came over to Sarah and gave her a big hug and pat her on the back, as if to say "You go, girl!"

TiVo/DVR or tape it if you can. As far as I know, Sarah was on right at the beginning, made an appearance during the “Weekend News Update” and at the end (briefly) when the cast comes out on stage all at once. I don’t know if she was on any other times than those 3 times... I have it on tape, and will watch when I have time. (I was watching the Red Sox vs Rays game mostly)

I liked it, Sarah Palin got down, Republicans do not typically get down...ever..she can move really well and I thought it was pretty funny.

Would have liked to have seen more though, she had two appearances, both very short.

This pitbull is going to single handedly drag the dead political carcass of McCain across the political finish line well ahead of Obama/Biden.

McCain is stunned to realize that the NYT no longer likes him.?

It is an amazing herculean feat for her to take a campaign so unwilling to fight for a win, and transform it into a winning campaign.

She is dismantling the political establishment of this nation. It’s amazing.

Wow! Great post, lonestar67. That's the "Post of the Night" IMO... ;-)

I think I will record it. After I posted and read some of the other comments, I began to rethink the idea of sitting through the leftist "humor". It's better to just fast forward right through it!

Short was better and smart on her part on what she agreed to do. Kept her “above the fray” with some of the more base elements of SNL. Gave the viewer enough of her to like without finding something to fault her for. Always leave ‘em wanting more!

This is like Pravda reporting that Reagan said something in Berlin but the East Germans scoffed at it.

Anyone who sees the skit will enjoy it and think that Gov. Palin has a good sense of humor and can act pretty good.

It didn’t seem to ‘over the top’ to me. Comedy often involves ‘roasting the guest’. The rap skit was funny and Sarah was able to groove in it and go along for a laugh.
No matter what situation she is in she is both likeable and projects the aura of a humble winner. SNL should love her appearing since it boosted their ratings and also improved the quality with her appearance. Sarah wins again!

I haven’t watched SNL since Bush 41 was POTUS. I watched tonight and I could not believe the demonstrably unfunny nature of their skits. The Palin stuff was OK and she’s far prettier than Tina Fey, but aside from her there was not a single amusing spot. It made me go out to the kitchen and turn on my Bass O matic. UMMM Good Bass.

Palin is great but mcCain was still missing something: support from the non-ideological investor class.

then along came Joe the plumber

Just my luck.
I quit watching SNL several years ago, because it became so, well, boring and tedious. I was a faithful viewer during those first several years, didn’t miss an episode, and could recite some of the skits verbatim. Especially loved the “Sweeney Sisters”, and Phil Hartman bits.
Wish I could have gotten a “head’s up” about Sarah’s appearance tonight. Anyone have a link to the parts she was on, Utube, possibly? Or do they ever do a replay of the show later?

I hate these people. There is humor and there is disrespect. The two don’t need to meet to make laughter. I am talking this time about the piece with Amy Poehler.
