McCain snags key endorsement (TAMPA TRIBUNE- Florida)
CNN ^

Posted on 10/18/2008 6:02:21 PM PDT by DrHannibalLecter

John McCain won the endorsement of the Tampa Tribune Saturday, a key newspaper in the battleground state of Florida.

The paper, which leans conservative but chose not to endorse a candidate in 2004 over dissatisfaction with President Bush, said the "uncertain times require McCain's tested vigilance."

"McCain brings a lifetime of useful experience, including his grueling captivity in Vietnam and long Senate service. He believes in federalism, a strong defense and disciplined self-interest," the paper wrote. "McCain has been willing to cross party lines to work on tough problems. He co-authored a campaign finance law that failed to fulfill its objective, but he did muster the bipartisan support needed to try to control the buying and selling of public office."

This is good news. I have volunteered for work for the McCain/Palin campaign. I'll be traveling to Florida on 10-24 and working until 11-3.

Other FReepers should seriously consider volunteering.

Voter turn out from our side is extremely important.

LOL, that must have hurt CNN.

a - The Tampa Tribune probably leans a little left, not right. The fact they didn’t endorse Bush supports that.

b - I notice they left the first, most powerful sentence of the endorsement out of their article, and instead picked a sentence out of the middle. And that is if you want to change America to have a European style socialist government, Obama will do it.

The MSM is really smarting by the accusation of socialisam against Obama. They’ve tried their best to hide his socialist record and leanings, and they will give him every drop of cover they can.

This is encouraging since Tampa has a significant Hispanic population primarily of Cuban origin dating back to the late 19th century. Hopefully, a parallel effect is occuring in South Florida

Every argument I’ve had with an 0bama backer this past week, I ask “do you admit 0bama is a socialist?” They ignore the question and go into a diatribe of Bush-bashing. I then point out that they ignored the question, thank them for their admission, and then ask whether by supporting 0bama, they are socialists too. They’ll either revert to Bush-bashing, hem-haw around, or just try to make it sound extreme to allege 0bama’s a socialist.

Yes, the allegations of 0bama being a socialist have struck a nerve. The msm doesn’t want to admit that they and 0bama are in fact socialists.

There is a rumor, mind you it’s just a rumor, that Barack Obama may get the endorsement of the New York Times as early as tomorrow.

This should cause quite a stir if it happens.

LOL

I know the NY Post has endorsed McCain, but I am wondering if the NY Daily News will endorse McCain as well.
