You apparently did not watch the same clips I did. McCain was immensely funny and Barach was mildly amusing. I have seen many commentaries lauding McCain’s humor and timing.

And it is rather humorless for you to object to gatherings where people of different political persuasions get together. This is the way to reduce the terrible hostility that we see in politics.

And, what is wrong with the economy is that one party (democrats) participated in destroying the credit markeet and the mortgage market. How not having a dinner to benefit charities will help with that problem is very unclear to me.

Big charity dinners is what rich people do. Sometimes it may even help charities.

I thought McCain’s jokes were better, but his timing certainly wasn’t perfect. The one that sticks out in my mind was when McCain talked about how there must be someone in the room supporting him and then references Hillary. The timing there was way off, but there were people laughing before the punchline, so it wasn’t entirely his fault.

Actually, everyone always compliments Palin for her lipstick joke at the RNC, but I have to say, her timing was off too. She said “lipstick” about a second too soon. There was no buildup.

Of course, none of these people are comedians... :)

"You apparently did not watch the same clips I did."

Very possible. I'm pretty sure you weren't with me in the den at that time.

"This is the way to reduce the terrible hostility that we see in politics."

Too bad it doesn't carry-over to this forum. Apparently, if I do not have Obama Derangement Syndrome, I need to go to some kind of re-programming.

"And, what is wrong with the economy is that one party (democrats) participated in destroying the credit markeet and the mortgage market."

So this is supposed to make me cheery about the economy ... or is it that even though it sucks, the republicans didn't do it so don't pay attention? Somehow it is just not comforting to know that stock portfolios are screwed because X did it instead of Y.

"How not having a dinner to benefit charities will help with that problem is very unclear to me."

Quite honestly, I didn't know if it was a benefit or another honor the media gathering, or what the heck it was. They made jokes about the bailout and I do find that very offensive.

"How not having a dinner to benefit charities will help with that problem is very unclear to me."

Depending on the charity, you very well could be correct. People are free to party and donate to their hearts' content without flack from me. Just don't joke about your wonderful role in the government during difficult times.

"Big charity dinners is what rich people do. Sometimes it may even help charities."

Thank goodness.

Was it me or did Obama’s smile seem pasted on?
