100,000 Come to Obama Mega Rally

ST. LOUIS - Under the Gateway to the West, the St. Louis arch, Barack Obama addressed an estimated 100,000 people in the “red” Show Me State just 17 days before the general election - his biggest rally to date in the United States.

True, but you're talking about 10 lanes of traffic, plus two shoulders which combine to be 150 feet.

Yet, in the photo at the head of this article, that break looks like only 2 lanes of traffic.

Why? 100,000 voters and non voters out of 3 million potential voters in Missouri. Saint Louis is typical urban city in America with a very liberal electorate.

I drive by the old DC Public Library (Mass Ave NW, right in front of the new Convention Center) and there's a permanent exhibit there titled “Riots are the Language of the Unheard”. So I'm familiar with the concept ...

Totally agree. They tried the same thing in 04 with Kerry rallies with thuge numbers always etc etc. A better FReeper then me may be able to pull up what the numbers were at his rallies, I seem to remember the 100,000#

I’d bet those people in your 3rd picture are from St. Louis suburbs...not the city. Wonder how many people pictured were in downtown St. Louis today and stumbled upon this rally?

Meaningless indeed. As I said in another post those are 100,000 voters and non voters whereas Missouri has a potential of 3 million voters this year. Saint Louis is one the bluest urban cities in America. I do not see why we see this as a big deal.

I asked my daughter to read this thread when she has time. I told her to look carefully at these pictures and remember that the people cheering are those who support the government taking our hard-earned money as a penalty of success. Being a med student, she doesn’t like the idea of her hard work being for nothing.

This is a conservative advantage because after what was done to Joe the Plumber, we get to see the faces of those who think it’s ok to penalize success and move our country toward socialism. I think this rally will make conservatives more determined to fight, not wilt from fear.

Not sure if this has been pointed out but Obama already has a base in this area so why he is there? Because he knew he could get a big crowd. This isn’t going to win him any new voters. It’s just another petty attempt to keep up with the Palin/McCain juggernaut. A few weeks ago we kept hearing how O should be ahead by double digits. Immediately we get inundated with rigged polls saying just that. It’s been reported how Palin is pulling them in at her rallies and we now have this stunt. That’s all it is a stunt. He knew he could get big numbers. Instead of focusing on visiting undecided he runs back to the safety of his koolaid drinking 0bots.
