MELBOURNE, Florida (CNN)- At a rally in Melbourne, Florida Friday evening, Senator McCain revealed he had called Joe Wurzelbacher.
I talked to him this morning for the first time ever, said McCain. And I want to tell you his sprits are good and hes a tough guy. He is what small business people all over this country are all about. They are tough and they are good and they want to get ahead and they want to keep their money. McCain did apologize to the Ohio resident for thrusting him into the media spotlight on the night of the debate according to McCain press secretary Brooke Buchanan.
The night before he called, he appealed to Joe on CBS's Late Night with David Letterman. Joe, if youre watching, Im sorry, he said into the camera.
Buchanan did say that the Arizona Senator invited Ohios most famous voter to meet up with the campaign but did not set up any specific stops.
McCain has a rally in that state on Sunday but Buchanan said she didnt know whether Murzelbacher would appear.
When asked why he called Joe, Buchanan said, I think he just wanted to reach out to him.
Whether Joe is there in person or not, he is certainly a star at McCain events. McCain urged others at the rally to contact Joe and share their support. Send Joe an email and tell him you are with him, ok, said McCain.
And the crowd definitely seemed to be full of Joe supporters as well as John supporters, with people at the Melbourne rally were wearing tee shirts with a picture of a name tag on them that said, My name is
Joe the Plumber and holding signs about Joe like one on stage that said, Joes dough, not Obamas.

Anyone who believes the liberals are better on the economy needs their head examined
You know what happened to the Chinese patriot in your picture?
I don't care how much that terrorist makes per year. I don't think it reflects on Obama what his close associate did when he was 8 years old, but I sure do wish the media would pay attention to Obama's reaction when that particular buddy said he didn't regret setting bombs and wished he'd done more. Obama was 41 when Ayers said that, and he still calls Ayers "mainstream". Terrorism is not mainstream among Christians. Let's see more reporting on Ayers and what he believes.
My aunt has had a pretty miserable life, most of it her own doing. I always want to ask her if the Democrats are so good to her, why does her life still suck so badly? What have they ever done for her? She makes minimum wage, working at some pancake house and sends money to George Soros and friends. She's stupid as a sack of rocks!!!!
This is so rich. Not only did Joes question cause Obama to come out of the Marxist closet-on tape, indisputably-it also demonstrated how completely IGNORANT Obama is on what a small business even is.
I find it remarkable that Joe has a tax lean on his house. I think it shows how the middle class or lower are effected by taxes, high gas prices, etc. He is a symbolic metaphor for all of us. We're all struggling. If Joe's boss is taxed even more, then Joe's problems will rise as well. If Joe is having trouble making it now, how hard will life be when he is laid off?
Joe is coming up on F&F!
Last night on Huckabee, Joe said that he is now “out of work.”
Don’t know if he was let go or what. I read the unions were down on him because he’s not a union member.
