He maxed out at $2,300. He could have given after September 4th.

Weren’t Powell and McCain both against Rumsfeld? That would put them more in agreement.

If he endorses anyone, I think it will be BO. My guess he’ll not really endorse anyone.

I hope you are right. The media is clearly chomping at the bit to help Bambi, he who would sit with terrorist nations, yet again.

Powell’s family comes from the Carribean and this gives me hope. They have strong values and are very fine people.

So, if he endorses BO, can we call him a racist?

Thank you. Being from New York, we know the difference in a family or Caribbean origin.

They have a depth to their culture, that is sadly missing from ours today.
And they take great pride in it and the values. They gained much from the British legal system.

I’m hoping he does the right thing. He left the Bush Administration on bad terms but he shouldn’t hold that against McCain.

Ah someone with the depth to know and understand.

Some people don’t understand this. And also that Gulf War 1 was Bush 1’s call based on the international discussions at that time.

No one wanted the US to take an Arab capital. We see partly, if not wholly why now.

Iraq was not just a basket case at the top. It was a basket case through and through with people who were slaves and prisoners to a barbaric system. Once the head was gone, the elements below kept that tradition.

It was all they knew in their lifetime.

Something that Americans with our endless freedoms here, can’t understand.

Thanks for your reasoned and thoughtful post. I’m feeling better now.

Disagree on both counts. The US did not have a coalition of support to go to Baghdad’; not Powell’s fault.

And connecting that to Al Qaeda’s plans is even more shaky. It may have accelerated their agenda, not eliminated it.

I overheard a few black Barry supporters yesterday all excited about Powell's endorsement on Sunday...and wondered to myself if they thought he was so great when he was in the Bush Administration.

Off topic but had to report this...I've had Fox & Friends on a bit this morning and must say the word of the day is "CHILLING." This has been used by Alisyn and her guests when describing Barry's socialist plan for America, the attacks on Joe the plumber for DARING to ask a question and Congress' plan for the Fairness Doctrine. I am quite shocked over the sudden change in tone. Now they are reporting on the "in the toilet" hit piece the Times did on Cindy McCain today.

McCain and Powell appear to agree on just about everything including their apparent dislike of Don Rumsfeld.

The *real* question is, is Obama about to get off of the fence?

(Post Turtle).

Cheers!

If Powell endorses McCain, in a blink of an eye he will go from being portrayed as an American Hero and Statesman to being a deranged former general.

He should support his brother officer, as opposed to his brutha...but I’m not counting on it.

Love how all these rumors on the Internet get started. Most of the blogger know it alls totally wiffed on McCain picking Palin so most of this speculation is just hen house gossip. Powell has indicated he is a Republican, reiterated this multiple times, gave money to McCain, is friends with McCain, and him and his wife continue to this day to be friends with Dick and Lynn Cheney. Even if his Republicanism flavor is more of the RINO variety. All that being said if Powell does endorse Obama...yawn if anything it's a negative. Not one person had mentioned it here. Powell would negate any argument of McCain being a Bush toady. Powell is\was the is inexorably tied to Bush 41\43. The far left KOSers would go nuts after a day of adulation. Obama would lose his street cred with the violently anti-war crowd by accepting the endorsement of a war mongering Bush ex-General.

A friend and ex-aide said that Gen Powell was extremely "upset" by the "vitriol, bile and prejudice" aimed at Mr Obama on the campaign trail.

"We've talked about this and I know it really bothers him and I'd expect him to talk about it," Col Lawrence Wilkerson, his former chief of staff, told The Telegraph.

Col Wilkerson said he did not know whether his old boss was planning to throw his weight behind Mr Obama - a move that could undermine Mr McCain's efforts to regain ground in the battle for the presidency.

Actually he was a good general. His “overwhelming force” policy would have prevented a lot of harm that has happened in Iraq.
