Powell, who served as President Bush's secretary of state, is to appear on NBC's "Meet the Press," prompting some to suggest that he might use that platform to make the announcement.

dont know whether he will endorse mccain or not. when asked a few months ago he said he is watching and hasnt decided he has given money to mccain but who knows what he will do. I am leary so many are going for obama simply because of his skin color and his gift of gab and not his record.
He is an angry passive aggressive man. Since he left the cabinet that hsows more than ever.
I’ve met General Powell in person. I thought he was a warm, sincere, down-to-earth kind of guy.
I would be extremely disappointed, and surprised, if he goes for Obama.
I’ll bet the average black voter doesn’t even know who Powell is, and/or doesn’t care who he endorses.
We care what General Powell thinks!
General Powell was an Excellent Military Leader!
General Powell was an Excellent Secretary of State!
The sour opinions of NO Nothings are disregarded easily and completely:-P
Are they the non-conservatives that said he lied about WMD and lost all credibility.
I think its racist stereotyping to assume that Powell will endorse a half black man because he is half black himself. Conservatism means a color blind society where anyone can pull themselves up, in Clarence fashion.
Lets try!:
Osam Obama HUSSEIN is Black?
This all started by axledick dropping a rumor for nothing more than three days of spin. If it does not happen... many will think it has.

The sour opinions of NO Nothings are disregarded easily and completely:-PSince you can't seem to spell "know-nothings" correctly, Id say it is you, rather, that suffers from a lack of veracity.
I am not sure that it was not the other way around. Bush 41 was following the DAMN UN mandate which called for putting Saddam back in his box, not his removal.
It would be nice if he also mentioned Ayer's 2006 speech in Caracas praising Hugo Chavez' Venezuela as a model of "education reform".
There you go again! bet you are off to a miserable day, enjoy it!:-)
Give Obama a big Kiss!
What’s miserable is knowing people like you exist. Dumb as the day is long, yet proud of it.
See ya chump.
Yes, the first Gulf War was botched. General Schwarzkopf wanted to continue into Bagdad and take it, but he was prevented from doing so. I remember hearing him say it in an interview back then, but he was quickly silenced and never spoke of it again to my knowledge. Big mistake.
I am thinking he will probably split his endorsement.
Perhaps he will endorse McCain’s experience in a time where the US is at war and the threat of terrorism is still present.
Perhaps he will endorse Obama’s leadership in a time where the country needs to change direction and pass the torch to a new generation.
I suspect he will conclude by saying that the later need outweighs the former and will therefore cast his vote and therefore his support behind Obama.
I do hope he will endorse McCain against Obama but the conventional wisdom prevents me from expecting it. I feel myself involved more with how I will view Powell after his endorsement more than anything else. I have respected him since he came on to the world scene but I have always realized that he is a centrist at best. So here is hoping that he gives John the nod for his bipartisanship and ability to compromise.
I request that the misleading headline be corrected. No evidence is prevented supporting the claim that Powell will endorse McCain.
There is plenty of evidence pointing the other direction, although I doubt Powell will endorse Obama outright ... I don’t think its his style to leave everyone hanging in order to grab the spotlight on Sunday. He has too much class for that.
Haven’t read the whole thread- but has he also contributed to Obama’s campaign? Sometimes high profile people contribute to both.
Andrea Mitchell is convinced he’s endorsing Obama.
I’m sorry, but I fail to see how a black man endorsing another black man persuades any voter.
I’m no Powell fan, but he’ll earn my respect if he goes against the tide and makes a strong endorsement of McC/P.
Which the media will then ignore. Prominent black hero endorses McCain over The 0ne, yawn, who cares? Oh, but if he’d gone for 0.....
