PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, embroiled in an adultery scandal and a tight race for re-election, admitted Friday to having at least two affairs but insisted he broke no laws and will not resign. The first-term Democrat conceded that one of the affairs began as he was running on a family values platform to replace Mark Foley, a Republican who resigned amid revelations that he sent lurid Internet messages to male pages who had worked on Capitol Hill as teenagers.
Mahoney, 52, apologized to his wife, his daughter and his constituents, even as he maintained he hadn't been hypocritical.
"I can understand why people would feel that way and for those people, all I can say is, 'I'm sorry I let you down,'" Mahoney said in his first set of interviews since news broke this week that he had a sexual relationship with Patricia Allen, 50, whom he met while campaigning in 2006.

Who cares? Democrats don’t, as scandals aren’t applicable to them. Only Republicans are capable of doing bad things.
He claims he wasn’t hypocritical? What’s his logic? That because he didn’t cheat on his wife with a male Congressional intern he’s upholding high moral values?
FL-16 was already a competitive race, and now I think Tom Rooney has an excellent chance of defeating the freshman incumbent Mahoney.
Scumbag!
POS rat. Where is the main scream media??? Are they spewing their seed all over the airwaves over this guy? Not on your life simply because he is a democrap. Totally in the pocket and on the payroll of the democrat party.
GOP +1
Unfortunately, it appears that voters haven’t figured out that their ‘conservative’ Democrat congressmen don’t act so conservative when they’re in DC. So naturally they’ll send some more to DC this year.
My prediction: He’ll be re-elected.
Hey, they’re too busy trying to determine why Joe the Plumber lied about his real name being Samuel.
Silly me...............it’s about time for a new American Revolution.
two affairs
vs.
lurid Internet messages to male pages who had worked on Capitol Hill as teenagers.
If the crAP has to report it they will do so like the adolescents they are.
There’s good polling news for Rooney. An admittedly Republican outfit has a poll out showing Mahoney’s support has collapsed.
I’m bad at posting links but here’s a link to the Weekly Standard’s blog which has more information. You’ll have to scroll down a bit. http://weeklystandard.com/Weblogs/TWSFP/TWSFPView.asp#9188
Damned. He’s giving Eliot Spitzer a run for his money.
Now if we add in Ted Kennedy, Christopher Dodd, and some of the other whoremongers in the Congress, we will have enough for a football team plus a reserve team.
The team’s name would be the Congressional Ballers.
What a bunch of scum.
A new Republican poll indicates Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) is the most endangered incumbent in the country days after a news report showed he paid a former mistress hush money. The poll, released Friday and conducted for Republican Tom Rooneys campaign and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), shows a big shift in the race, which Mahoney had been leading (by seven). He is now behind Rooney, 55 percent to 29 percent, with 16 percent of voters undecided.
No he won’t win, I live in his district. It has always been Conservative and the voters will come back home. Foley, was anomaly, the race was lost because of him. Not because he was a Republican. Rooney will win the race!
I meant to specify that the polling data came from Steve’s link in post #13.
Well then, move along, nothing further to read here!
I should have added a sarcasm tag because my post was more a commentary on Democrats ability to overlook virtually any crime instead of a commentary on this particular race. I hope Rooney kicks his butt.
