KIM CHANDLER
News staff writer

MONTGOMERY - Six Alabama counties have more people on their voting rolls than they do people of voting age, according to voter registration numbers and U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

The curious statistic could be the result of a surge in new registrations added to voter rolls that have not been purged of people who moved, said local election officials. But the state’s top elections chief said Thursday she’s concerned that bloated rolls could leave opportunity for Election Day fraud.

“I can’t say it’s impossible that 100 percent of adults in five or six counties are registered to vote. But it is improbable,” Secretary of State Beth Chapman said.

Greene County had 7,540 voters on its rolls in September, according to registration figures from Chapman’s office. But the county has only 6,834 adults 18 and older, according to 2007 estimates from the Census Bureau.

Perry County had 8,517 voters on its rolls in September. The county has 7,635 adults 18 and older, according to 2007 estimates from the Census Bureau.

“they are not smart enough to keep it a secret”

Why should they hide it?
It’s NOT like CBS,ABC,NBC, or CNN are going to call them on it....

Could this be the results of Rush Limbaugh's “Operation Chaos”? Remember when he ask Republicans to register and vote for Hillary so as to deny Obama the win in certain primary states.

Yes, but just the fact that the voter registrations are so high in areas that have lost residents causes one to wonder. For example, Birmingham has lost thousands of residents, but have actually signed up 35,000 new voters. We need the FBI down here!

Beth is AWESOME! You think Palin is a pitbull? Beth will rip some folks a new one if she has to.

Add Fox to that. They seem to have turned to the “Dark Side” lately.

Sounds like the state department responsible for registrations, voting etc. is doing an extremely poor job. Alabama has a Republican governor, can’t he do something?

Lowndes County Board of Registrars Chairman Charles Martindale said the number of inactive voters can distort registration figures.

Lowndes County had 10,259 voters on its rolls in September. But the county has 9,401 adults 18 and older, according to 2007 estimates. However, of the registered voters in Lowndes County, more than 100 are listed as inactive.

That explains it. If you purge the one hundred inactive voters from the list of 10,259 voters, you get 10,159 active registered voters. Well within the population of 9,401. Oh, Wait...Ooops. Charles Martindale needs more fingers and toes to count on.

I think the election should be called off until the FBI completes it's investigation on ACORN and other illegal activities. No only that but Obama himself should be arrested and tried for treason as well as the dems in Congress who have aided and abetted the terrorist.
