Ya know based on what I hear about the treatment of women in India (Acid disfigurations, etc), I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing.
I have to agree somewhat, although one crime doesn't necessarily justify committing another crime in retaliation.
Until relatively recent times the wives of deceased Hindu men in India were often tied down on top of their husbands' caskets and burned alive when the husband's body was cremated. The Brits tried to stop that inhumanly cruel practice during their colonization of India, but IIRC they were not very successful.
