I believe the phrase “lock and load” and .... originally referred to flint lock weapons.

Gee, I wonder if anyone has ever informed the US Marines????? That's where I picked up the phrase.

Flintlock weapons were invented in the early 1630’s and used in the US Revolution, long before the US Marines. Gee, I wonder were the Marines got the expression?
