Mentally challenged man says his vote wasn't right
WALB ^

October 14, 2008

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There are allegations of voter fraud, as a Dougherty County family claims the vote of a mentally challenged relative was stolen.

They say the adult day rehab program where Jack Justice attends took him to vote, without the family's permission. What's worse is Justice says the person helping him wouldn't cast the ballot for his choice for President.

Jack Justice has been voting since he turned 18. Typically his family takes him to their neighborhood precinct. This time Primus Industries, his adult day rehab program, took him to vote. His family was shocked, but what shocked them more was that Jack claims that his aide commandeered his vote.

"They told me to vote for Obama, I said no I wanted to vote for McCain," said Jack Justice, a voter.

Jack Justice says the person helping him, selected Obama's name. His sister says the family is often asked to sign a permission slips for trips, but for this they were never notified.

"No permission slips, no nothing, he just came home and said he had gone," said Nancy Justice, Jack's sister.

We questioned election officials about the procedure, who say they recall the group coming in to vote and an aide was helping the individuals, but they must sign an oath that they'll cast the ballot however the voter prefers.

"So it plainly says the person should tell the person how they want to vote and then they help them mark it," said Carolyn Hatcher, Dougherty County Elections Supervisor.

Election officials say they can't follow people into the booth to see what happens. We contacted the Albany Area Community Service Board who oversees Primus Industries. They say they do their best to protect the safety, treatment, and care of the individuals in their programs. They also said they'll look into the allegations and conduct an internal investigation if necessary. Nancy Justice is just upset the incident happened.

"For me it was kind of pushing it to the limit there to get him to vote for someone in particular who they wanted him to vote for," said Nancy Justice.

Election officials say the family's only option is to file a challenge to the election results. The Justice's are considering their options.

Advance voting will begin this Monday at the Riverfront Resource Center on Pine Avenue. Advance voted will run through October 31st. No one will be able to vote the Monday prior to election day.

Jack Justice? Is there a “Bubba Justice” in this story? How about a “Bobo Justus”?

I like it how election officials cannot go into the booth with them but partisan “voting assistants” CAN.

The solution is to put TWO monitors into the booth, one Republican volunteer, one Democrat volunteer, and both observe the actions of the “assistant” helping the voter to cast a ballot as HE or SHE intends.

This is their “drive for change” that they promoting.
People from states not in contention are asked to go
to battleground states and help with “organizing”, helping voters, etc.

Whatever you do, never Google or Yahoo, “nursing homes” and “voter fraud” at the same time. I just did and I’m sick.

In adult care facilities and nursing homes, staff will frequently register their clients and then either cast votes for them or pressure them to vote the way the staff prefers. Absentee ballots are especially vulnerable to abuse.

In the half dozen or so instances that I am familiar with, this form of vote fraud was entirely in favor of Democrats. Unfortunately, this problem is both hard to combat and not on local Republican Party radar screen.

One of the big jobs for Clinton’s “community service” organization (Americorps?) was to go around an help the old folks in nursing homes fill out their ballots. Weasels in the chicken coop.

Here’s a legitimate case for the ACLU, so that means we won’t hear from them.

I worked as a poll watcher in the last election and a black church-chartered bus brought in a large group of older “mentally challenged” people from the nearby state hospital - and the aides went into the booths with them and voted all of them for Kerry. We could hear them telling the “voter” where to put the mark or even “helping” them by holding their hands, but there was nothing we could do about it. The “voters” were confused, afraid and simply did what they were told to do, and they would simply have said they wanted to vote that way if challenged. If they even understood the question; unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any IQ requirement for voting, and many of these people were functioning at about the level of 3 year olds.

I also saw this done in California years ago, where a union bus brought in a large group of elderly non-English speaking Chinese, who were herded in and voted by the staff from the city elder care center where they spent their days. The staff were Chinese speakers also and were even wearing Dem candidate buttons, so I assume we know how they voted these old people.

I was going to make a comment about how mentally challenged people shouldn’t be allowed to vote...but then I thought “well, that would disqualify roughly half the electorate.”

Roughly half the electorate ARE NOT qualified to vote. Guess which half.

In the case I am aware of, here in Wisconsin, the developmentally disabled adult lives in a group residence with another challenged individual and a rotating staff of attendents.

The attendents spend months prior to any election literally brainwashing the residents. These are men in their 30s who have mental development of 8-12 years. They work in sheltered conditions and can perform normal activities in a limited manner if they have time to practice them over and over until they become rote.

So, the attendents spent a lot of time coaching the residents to say/believe :”Bush is bad.” “I like Kerry.”

This time it may backfire as one is presently torn between The Incredible Hulk and Xena, Warrior Princess. If he becomes confused, he can turn violent in short order, so it is advisable not to push him too hard or he can end up chemically restrained.

I have also heard stories from nurses in nursing facilities about Alzheimers patients being visited by donk election workers who vote in their name for the donk. Nothing is ever done about it and it is common knowledge.

This is exploitation and abuse of vulnerable people. They are voting against their own best interests because under a Marxist Utopia the worst of their candidates envision, these people will be warehoused or even euthanized-- possibly with something as simple as a poisoned flu shot.

The next time you witness this, at least video-photograph it and post it on You-Tube if at all possible.

That's exactly how we handled it when I was an election officer, except it wasn't volunteers. It was the Chief election officer and Assistant Chief; they are required by law to be from opposing parties.
