The second problem is that anonymity -- no names, no pictures-- is requested. He fears retaliation and harassment. And who knows -- perhaps more.
Media may get away with going single-source on this, or anonymous sources, but not both single-source and anonymous.
So here's the day's twist: Believe it or don't.
The source was considering dropping his demand for anonymity. Thus likely moving the story forward. (He wasn't considering going forward with the Politico, by the way: but with the other, more important organization.)
And now, today? After witnessing Politico, among others, savage Joe Wurtzelbacher?
Cold feet.
The Politico has this story. They've had it for a while. They don't want to run it with the guy's anonymity kept intact.
Gee, I wonder why he wanted to keep that?
They're willing to endlessly vet anyone who even asks Barack Obama a question, but not Barack Obama himself.
I can pretty much understand the media's reluctance to allow anonymity -- except for the fact that the media so gleefully engages in the witness intimidation that prompts the request for anonymity in the first place.
As of now, the story appears dead.
Again, second source crucial. If anyone has the guts to go up against Obama's cultists and his state media.
The Other Party on the Story: I should say the Politico's reasoning is not obviously biased, because the other party, whom I respect, has the same damn problems.
I am picking on the Politico, however, because let's face it, they are a bit loose with the rules when it suits them, and because they took part in this "vetting," as they call it, of a citizen who dared to ask a question.
They're part of the same smear campaign and creepy threats of retaliation -- a home address? Why does that need to be known to a charged, angry electorate? -- against a guy who asked a question.
No, the Politico didn't do that part, but they dug an awful lot. And encouraged digging, because any leftie who hit upon something would get his tip published.
I cannot even imagine what would happen to a guy who called Obama a straight-up liar on his supposed "flimsy" relationship with The Terrorist William Ayers.
They know what this guy fears -- because they just participated in it.
Any dink of a sub-bureaucrat who could whistle-blow against the Bush Administration would have his story told -- with anonymity.
But it's different for The One.
We are not allowed to discuss issues, relationships, etc. about That One, yet a plumber, now there's a threat to national security.
Let these Obama maniacs run wild. The desperate damn fools are turning “Joe the Plumber” into a martyr. When the presidential loser born in Kenya is long forgotten, there will be statues erected in city parks to All-American Joe Wurzelbacher.
I'm sure there is going to be more to the story and the media sitting on it makes it bigger than what it might have been originally.

Coming forward is going to be hard for this person I am sure. The media is going to go after them. If they have any kids they will be fair game as well. But I beg of this person please come forward. Do it for your country.
One doesn’t get a chance to go on with Leno and Letterman often.
I would ride this for all he can endure and reap.
He speaks for a heckuva lot more folks than the left would like to admit.

I can’t imagine how this must feel. It’s one thing to step up and say something not realizing how it will change one’s life (been there, done that - threats and all). But, fully knowing what will happen to your character? AND, on top of it blowing the whistle on a guy like Ayers who you KNOW has committed violent acts, and a Democrat running for PRESIDENT? Even scarier than what the press will do - it’s what they will incite OTHERS to do on behalf of their messiah. It’s absolutely disgusting...
I’ll be praying for this person - that despite the fears they realize that NOT coming forward will hurt more than just himself/herself. It’s a lonely place considering these things. I hope this person realizes that there are good people in this world who will back him up, and that if necessary even protect him/her.
That’s VERY true — when it comes to issues like this making it known who you are DOES offer some protection.

I wonder who that would be.
It has to be concerning - if this person has family and roots in and near Chicago.
But they have to know, that people - somewhere, somehow, will protect them and their family. If maybe for political reasons at first, after that, I know there are good-hearted folks on the right and middle that would help them and their fmaily out, if need be. Their are PUMAs and conservatives alike that would help.
