A coal fired power plant here in ND is installing a prototype slip stream carbon capture unit. That unit will require 30%+ of gross generation for power. That means it would take 300MW of a 1000MW plant's gross output just to run the carbon capture unit!

Putting that in perspective - imagine the auto makers saying we will eliminate CO2 from your car's exhaust but it will take one out of every three gallons of gas you put in the tank to do it.

At the plant where I work we are spending 300+ million for additional pollution control and will end up putting less MW on the line.

Consumers don't have a clue about the costs about to hammer them.

Has anyone proposed a CO2 catalyzer, is such a thing feasible?

Right now we can’t site an ordinary landfill, how are we going to permit multiple, massive storage sinks for CO2?
