My husband is a licensed HVAC and Hot Water/Steam Heat contractor. They are high-knowledge, high skill jobs. Lots of danger involved to the consumer if just anybody does this kind of work. A house can blow up from a gas leak. Families can die from a carbon monoxide leak. A water leak can cause up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

On nearly all homeowners policies, if you have electrical work done and there is a loss of any kind, you can be denied for having the electrical work done by unlicensed contractors (or self performing, like i do).
