On Sept. 24, Hillary Rodham Clinton received a surprise phone call from the man shes often denounced as an economic know-nothing: John McCain.
This was no social call, even though Clinton likes McCain enough to keeps his photo on the wall of her Senate office. The GOP nominee had already chatted with Bill Clinton about the mortgage crisis and wanted to pick the senators brain about her new proposal to have the federal government buy up bad mortgages and renegotiate terms more favorable to homeowners on verge of default.
McCain said he had been motivated by it, he was very complimentary about what she had proposed and wanted to know more, said a person with knowledge of the call.
Clinton responded coolly. She didnt engage him, she just said, Thank you and heard him out.

Why is McCain asking Socialists for economic advice? |
|
My BS Detector is showing a medium-lo reading. I suspect “Economy” might not have been the only subject under discussion.
It’s almost time for the Clintons to spring their October Surprise, perhaps?
The only advice I would seek from Hillary is how to hide a body.
I could see it. He might have called knowing he wouldn’t use the advice but would use the call as proof that he can work across the aisle.
This is what I posted last saturday
We have three weeks to go and the dems and the Chicago bully machine have yet to warm up. So what are we going to expect in the next three weeks? The dems “fire in Reichstag” market collapse may be beginning to wear off and their attacks on Gov Palin are no longer having an impact.
So what are we going to expect in the next three weeks:
1) Divide and conquer - They are going to attempt to divide the base with stories, lies, and innuendo, like they discussed doing in 2004. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear stories, like in 2006, about homosexuality. They are going to target the evangelicals.
2) Bogus polls to wear down resolve - The polls we have been seeing are manufactured in attempt to drive down the GOP base on election day. We cannot fall for these. We say we don’t trust the MSM, yet we believe the MSM.
3) Newsstories with bogus headlines - People here on FR need to stop headline shopping and stop posting stories intended to be political disinformation. I beginning to suspect some people here are DU trolls, and I am going to call these people out. We saw a lot of these in 2004 during the last week.
4) We have to stay focus and let McCain’s professional do their job. Let’s support the 527s. I joined the NRA this morning and I don’t even have a gun (no yet) and I gave money to a 527 working in the upper midwest battleground states. We can still win, but we have to FIGHT!!!!!!!!
"Beginning"??????
Come on....you are smarter than that!
DU trolls here no way! You can’t be serious? :-)
Some, but not all. Just the really juvenile/dumber ones. The others are probably more educated 0bamatrons/campaign workers and volunteers who have been sent out to do what you said...
Did he initiate diplomatic relations without preconditions?
> Give it up on the Clintons the MSM has neutered them PERIOD
I wish I could share your optimism. They are like vampyres — the Undead — and the only time it is safe to “give up” on them is when they both have a stake driven thru their hearts.
Probably.
But McCain's vote on and advocacy of the $700 Billion bailout sealed my vote...and that event was all McCain.
McCain talking to Hillary is a good thing. The more public the better. McCain wants to show or should want to show the PUMAs he will at the very least be treating Hillary with respect unlike Nobama.
