I've never hidden the fact that I'm not happy with McCain's selection (or where the GOP has been headed since 2001), but I applauded him a few times last night and even mentioned it in this thread or the other one.

That said, I was also very critical of his performance - I feel that while what he says plays well to Republicans, that he's ignoring the voters that will decide this election - the moderates, undecideds, and independents.

Bush won with those people in 2000, but he began losing them in 2004. Rove was able to counter the losses in 2004 by bringing in new voters, but by 2006, the GOP had lost enough of them that it was reflected in the Democrat victories in Congress.

I'm upset with McCain because I'm watching him repeat the mistakes that George H.W. Bush made in 1992 and Bob Dole made in 1996.

You know what platform Clinton won with?

Change, the economy, and health care. Does that sound familiar? It's a major part of Obama's platform.

If McCain does not focus on what matters to moderates, undecideds, and independents, and what's needed to win these people in the next couple of weeks, we are doomed to an Obama presidency. He gets caught up in stuff that those people do not care about (and Obama is more than happy to goad him into that), and they tune him out. We've only got a few weeks left, and if McCain does not focus on going after the voters he needs, rather the voters he already has, then he will lose.

I’m guessing: “to psycho out McCain.”

I wonder if LMSM will tell us that Ayers was there.

I was shopping in a used books bookstore today and saw textbooks from a few years back, and also from a number of years back, and I think they underline the fact that schools have been watering-down the curriculum, the standards, and that this is reflected in the quite watered-down textbooks used in public schools today. (I had a short talk with a math teacher where I used to teach, and I described how I had a challenging time in my geometry class in 10th grade back in 1983. Well, the math teacher of today told me that the class I described to him had, for the most part, been eliminated from the curriculum, with only a small part surviving as part of a “gifted” math class—I had hold back a laugh, as the materials weren’t all that tough, not even for this barely above average math student/pupil.) Bottom line: If your kids are, say, in the 76th to 89th percentiles, I’d consider moving them to more challenging private/parochial schools. I mean, if the kids are already in the top 10 percent, well then, it probably doesn’t matter so much where they learn, because they will probably be able to learn in spite of the public schools’ watered-down curriculum. And if they’re below the 75th percentile, well I’d recommend first of all getting the kids a private tutor, and might well just allow them to try to improve their performance in the public schools, as it may already be challenging enough for them there. Plus maybe they will really benefit from the public schools’ purported biggest selling points; i.e., the socialization experience of the public school setting, plus all the sports programs available to further enhance that socialization process.

Yes, I’m hoping FR will still be around in 2012.

Will you be the FR posting frequency monitor in an Obama administration?

I'll be vigilant to folks that show up after four years of non-posting and then show up in an election season. I'm also not ashamed to say those who post big graphics on live debate threads that disparage the anti-Obama candidate are a little off-putting. Pulling out the "I have a sick relative card" doesn't fly with me. Who has a sick relative for four years that doesn't permit them time to post on the internet about something you're obviously very passionate about? When did you find time to grab all those "McCain is a socialist" type graphics? It takes a little bit of time and effort. You obviously have been searching other sites while you have been "away."

All I'm saying is, I've had people near and dear to me die in the last few years and I'm caring for a mom and mother-law that are very ill. Pulling out the "sick" card is like pulling out the race card.

If you really and truly cared about FR, as you'd have been here more often than 2004 and posting anti-McCain graphics is questionable. I love this forum and despise anything that helps get the Marxist 0bama elected.

That's nice. My thoughts went to "let's have Vietnamese torturers break and rebreak Brook's arms for five years and then have this discussion."

Thank you.

I do think McCain has to focus on the economy but it seems like the people want a quick fix that they can understand in sound bites. If its more than 10 seconds long, its too hard to understand. Sometimes I think we are just a lost cause.

If I’m a morality policeman, so are you, because you were policing Ern’s morality.

So cram it, hypocrite.

Au contraire, unlike you, I policed nothing...I made a definite, flat statement of fact as I saw it.

So cram it, hypocrite.

As for you, Mr. Personality Plus, why don't you try a few dozen prunes or at least stop sucking on the lemons?...whatever you're doing is so clouding that normal, warm sunny disposition of yours quite pitifully.

Those with a penchant for “vigilant” monitoring of forum members’ posting behavior should be quite comfortable under Marxist rule.

Lol!...consider a gallon of prune juice and a waterhose, perhaps, just perhaps, you might find some relief! ;^)

Direct your anger at the putz who just said Osama won and we should all surrender to Obammamessiah. Faux News is in the tank for socialists. Deal with it.

Deal with THIS: Here's Krauthammer on Obama as a person (not a debater) from YESTERDAY: "Obama the Healer?"

Charles Krauthammer may not agree with the selection of Palin, but he is a solid conservative and is NOT "in the tank."

Enjoy your crow.

An enema might reduce the pressure on your brain. Or you could just use a tractor and pull your head out.
