Hillary/Bill/Biden only attracted 3000 in the same venue 2 days earlier (on a non-workday).

This validates the reported internal Obama poll that McCain is only 2 points behind in Pennsylvania.

“Say it ain’t so Joe”

Did you forget Scranton is your “hometown”.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Ellen Melody said Palin “remains out of touch with what the hard-working families and seniors in Northeast Pennsylvania are going through.”

And they really think Obama is in touch with it?
With his million dollar mansion?

I was at the rally. People were pumped.

A local country band did a good job of warming up the crowd for about an hour before the rally started. They finished their set with "Sweet Home Alabama" which they changed to "Sweet Home Pennsylvania". Thousands sang along.

Todd and Sarah seem like great folk. The kind of people you would love to have for neighbors.

Sarah's anti Obama rhetoric seemed a little toned down for this crowd but I think it's because there are a number of dems crossing over in this election. Scranton has a "Democrats for McCain" office and there were quite a number of them (juding by t-shirts, signs, and stickers) were at Sarah's rally. The area went 3 to 1 for Hillary and I think the McCain campaign is making a good effort to go after their votes.

Lucky you. I would have gone, but I couldn’t get the day off.

Mentioning Gov Bob Casey sure was a zinger, since his son is our current US Senator, AND IS FROM SCRANTON!

Ah, Lee Greenwood and “God Bless the USA”. I know, that song is corny, but it gets me every time. I need to listen to it every now and then when the news gets me down, it never fails to lift my spirits.

Here’s your answer; Gov Palin drew 6000 yesterday at her rally in Scranton.

Gov Casey was well liked, even my die hard Republican mother voted for him. Jr is an empty suit.

I'm not working full time so I was able to go. Next week I start a new job so I'm really glad the timing worked out. If Sarah came a week later I wouldn't be able to go.

The one thing that the pollsters can’t predict is turnout. If the Republican base is fired up over Sarah the way we seem to be, it could drive a massive increase in pubbie turnout. If that happens, it’s a new ballgame.

NEPA,

Lackawanna county is usually reliably Dem, isn’t it? What’s your prediction for how the county votes?

Me too! And I'm ordinarily a pretty cynical guy. Then again, Frank Capra's movies always get me, too.

I was wondering where "God Bless the USA" was during this campaign, it was conspicuous by its absence in the convention and in the McCain and Palin rallies I'd seen so far. Glad it's back.

Let them claim that there's a 14-point lead for 0 nationwide.

McCain takes PA and it's an early night.

... except that they won't call PA for McCain until 3am, of course.

The story on the ground doesn’t match the polls. I think the polls are very much not to be trusted. But being the underdog is a good place to be for our side. This past week with the ACORN voter fraud is really the first time Obama has been under any kind of media heat. I just hope McCain kills in the debate tonight.

Imagine what Sarah could be doing if the McCain Campaign had laid out a coherent theme...

My children are a priority. Everyone else's children need to be quiet in restaurants and the mall.

The pollsters are missing the Palin effect. She turns out voters and what’s more, she’ll turn out new voters for the GOP.
