I would think that at least a few death row inmates would request extremely expensive meals - like a rare grand cru Burgundy and a true Kobe filet sauteed in Piedmontese white truffle oil or something.

I don't think that they're allowed alcohol - otherwise, one could request a bottle of scotch and become totally inebriated - which would certainly complicate matters considerably.
