At Richmond International Raceway, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin likened the last three weeks of the presidential race to last month's close finish at the raceway in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400.

"You all know something about close races" she told the crowd of between 20,000 and 25,000. "John McCain and I are nearing the finish line of another close race," and it will be a sprint to the finish.

Another article on the Palin rally in Richmond. It has a link to a good slide show. The last picture shows a middle slice of the crowd

I was there and my guess is that the last picture shows about a third of the crowd

Check out the cars

That's a misleading headline. McCain and Palin were both in Va. Beach, then she headed up to Richmond while he went to a town hall in Wilmington NC.

The Richmond rally was moved to its location today (a racetrack) when ticket requests hit about 24,000 last Friday. Lots of people got their tickets after the venue was switched. Today's crowd was much larger than 20,000. (yes, I was there)

Juat watched a CNN report on the event. Showed only small portions of the crowd, and said it was her largest crowd, but never gave the estimate.

Then proceded to discuss if her tone was less incendiary than previous speechs.

Damn media.

I couldn’t get anything by a black screen, no pictures. Was hoping to see a video of her speech in Richmond and a chance to see how big the crowd was. Glad to hear there was a great crowd. Sure you enjoyed seeing Sarah like we did here in Clearwater, FL. :)

This was about noon, two hours prior to the event kicking off.

CNN got their knickers in a twist when we started chanting “We want Fox” after they opened their silly CNN umbrella.

Then Huber yelled at the whole group of them for reporting a crowd of 1000 when there were clearly nearly 30,000 people there.

“Which one of you is reporting 1000?” he demanded, shaming them.

[CNN] said it was her largest crowd,

Seriously? Could you have misunderstood that? Because I recall at one place in Florida she pulled in about 60,000. I'm not a crowd estimator by any stretch, but I'd be stunned if there were that many in Richmond.

Regardless, it was a HUGE, enthusiastic crowd.

I added a loud (in a booming voice) “1,000?! - Are you nuts??!”

I am sure the crowd in The Villages was twice the size.

I am sure the crowd in The Villages was twice the size.

My guess today (again, I'm just wingin' it) was 30-35K in Richmond, so I could buy that. But it's extremely difficult to assess without being elevated.

I was there— arrived late, and all the parking allotted for the event was full and the overflow parking was opened. An hour after the event ended, most cars were still in the parking lot— in line. Seemed by estimating lines of cars— at least 20,000 cars. Plus some buses and RVs.

Not sure where to post this as I’m new.

I downloaded Fox News Live several days ago and am getting all the rallies of McCain, Palin and of course Obama and Biden on it. They also break in with new coverage like the fires yesterday and they have the Situation Room on most of the day. I really like it because I get to see ALL of Sarah Palin’s speeches!! YeeHaw
