I guarantee you that Pete Best will be happy to sign anything you put in front of him and will throw down a few drinks with you too, if you go see one of his great concerts. He’s in the US right now.

He will, however, continue to accept hate mail after that date.

I had to Google Ringo Starr to see if he was still alive. Honestly, I thought he was dead but it turned out to be George Harrison that died a couple years back. That's a lucky break for Ringo I guess.

I hadn't thought of Ringo in about 10 years. That was when I made the mistake of buying his Christmas album. Let's just say that he actually made that Paul McCartney Christmas song listenable ("Wonderful Christmastime").

As for Ringo's post-Beatles work, I'm not much of a fan. About the only decent song he ever put out was "Photograph" and even that one was kind of mediocre.

So anyway, I'm kind of surprised he'd still be getting fan mail. But I do want to thank him for letting me know that I shouldn't bother just in case I ever get the inclination to ask him who he was thinking about when he wrote "You're Sixteen."

If his phone doesn't ring, he'll know it's me.

“It’s worth reading Beatles producer Geoff Emerick’s book about what it was like with the Beatles.”

To be frank, I was never much of a fan of the Beatles.

I prefer the rolling stones.

To be fair, the Beatles seem to have escaped much of the serious trouble that such a popular rock group COULD have so easily gotten into.

In veuw of the above it would seem that — ‘jerk’ or not — Ringo has done pretty well for himself.

“Fame” ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Especially without the “fortune”.

He didn’t write “you’re sixteen.” It was written by Richard Sherman and popularized by Johnny Burnette in like 1960.

Ringo is a talented drummer...and like it or not, the Beatles would NOT be the Beatles without him.

3/4 true, and true.

Ringo is a mediocre drummer. However, since he emphasized beats 1 and 3 in European music fashion, instead of the standard R&B 2 and 4, the Beatles' rock music projected a sense of urgency, which was their unique rock style.

Whether Ringo was instructed to to that by John and Paul, or it's just his style, I don't know.

Ringo should of thought of this when he took Pete Best’s job. Pete in his position would never refuse to sign fans’ photos. Sheesh!

It’s a bit of a Ford/Chevy thing. I like the Stones, but am a huge Beatles fan.

“Postmaster General”

‘DO YOU KNOW WHAT A ‘GENERAL’ DOES, Mr. Kramer? {or something like that}

(Kramer sinks down cowering in his chair crying)

I’m sorry general ... (or something like that)

LOL!

“He also said, though, that he was often frustrated by how long it took George to work out his guitar solos.”

What a joke! He was “FRUSTRATED”...LOL!! His job was to set the knobs and then wait until an acceptable ‘take’ was recorded.

George should have handed him the f**king guitar, sat back and smiled. THAT would have been priceless.

Agreed. Most of those solos were absolutely perfect. As I mentioned, Emerick is an unabashed McCartney fan and was actually in his wedding to Linda. Though his comments should be viewed through that prism, overall the book was a very good read and provided a lot of insight into what went on in the studio.

Oh, I found it!

Postmaster General:

“In addition to being a postmaster, I’m a general. And we both know, it’s the job of a general to, by God, get things done. So maybe you can understand why I get a little irritated when someone calls me away from my golf.”

KRAMER (cowering in his hair): “I’m very, very sorry.”

LOL!
