Don't tell me - ANOTHER radical in Obama's background?
American Thinker ^ | October 12, 2008 | Ed Lasky

Recognize a name here among the beneficiaries of taxpayer dollars?

As Chicago (and Illinois, for that matter) reels from a fiscal crisis resulting in a cutback of services and layoffs of thousands, Mayor Daley spends many millions on public relations and image building.

One of the beneficiaries is Marilyn Katz. Where have I heard that name before? She is a bundler for Barack Obama, a person with a radical past (head of security for the Students for a Democratic Society-SDS-fromm which Bill Ayers' militant Weathermen group splintered).

She was also the prinicpal organizer of the now famous 2002 antiwar rally in which Barack Obama spoke against the Iraq War. And she serves on his finance committee as well as hosting fundraisers for him and donating thousands of dollars to the cause.

She traveled to the Democratic convention, serving as a member of the credentials committee. She has links to Bill Ayers . She makes herself readily available to provide spin to downplay the Ayers-Obama relationship (see today's superb Chicago Tribune article by the intrepid columnist John Kass):

One friend of Obama and Ayers is former '60s radical Marilyn Katz, now an Obama fundraiser, strategist and public relations maven. She's often a go-to quote for reporters to knock down the Ayers-Obama story.

"What Bill Ayers and [former Black Panther, now U.S. Rep.] Bobby Rush . . . did 40 years ago has nothing to do with [the presidential campaign]," Katz was quoted as saying in the Chicago Sun-Times in April. "[Ayers] has a national reputation. He lectures at Harvard [University] and Vassar [College]."

What that story and many other pro-Obama articles gloss over is that during the violent protests of the 1968 Democratic National Convention here, Katz was the security chief for the radical Students for a Democratic Society. She once advocated throwing studded nails in front of police cars, back in the SDS days when the group was alleged to have thrown cellophane bags full of human excrement at cops and cans of urine and golf balls impaled with nails.

How things change.

Under this Daley, her firm, MK Communications, has many city deals, and one involves public relations for the Chicago Police Department's community policing program. From nails to contracts, the Chicago Way. Apparently, irony was not a '60s thing.

Now, as Daley prepares to lay off more than 1,000 city workers, he's given Katz and other public relations firms five-year contracts that could pay them as much as $5 million each for consulting, advertising and promotion.

Getting in good with Daley hasn't been bad for business. She also lists as her clients Daley's Chicago Housing Authority, Daley's City Colleges, Daley's city Law Department, and Daley's Departments of Aviation, Environment, Housing, Human Services, Planning and Development, Public Health, Public Works, Streets and Sanitation, Intergovernmental Affairs, Special Events—the list goes on.

Fired workers-the little people? Services being shut down? Infrastructure crumbling? School kids ripped off?

Ahh..who cares..as long as the public realtions machine and image building can flourish in the hands of people who make it their job to create illusions and delusions?

Wright and Pfleger are bad guys, but they’re garden-variety racists.

Rexko is a bad guy, but a garden-variety criminal.

Marilyn Katz, Bill Ayers,Raila Odinga, and Rashid Khalidi are a different breed of cat: virulent, violent America haters, enemies of this country. For them to be allies of the potential next President is frightening beyond the level of Wright, Pfleger, and Rezko.

Dang, I wonder how thickly he is entertwined with terrorists.

Not that I’m saying he is one, it’s just that so many of his associations are with documented US terrorists.

How ‘60s rebel made Daley clout list
Chicago Sun-Times - July 14, 1996
Author: Michael Sneed
It’s question & answer time: Wanna get rich? Wanna snag bigbucks city contracts worth more than $1 million? Wanna be paid to advise cops how to communicate? Here’s the Marilyn Katz recipe. Go to college in the ‘60s.

Join the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society), a radical activist group that provided the agenda for protests at the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention, which was the stage for riots.

Hang out with people who called cops “pigs.”

Attend the legendary Chicago 7 trial and defend their plight to reporters.

Evolve from “radical” to “liberal” political activist and become a major force in the Harold Washington campaign . . . and a force behind construction of low-income housing.

Then catch the eye of Mayor Daley, who develops an admiration for ability to drum up grass-roots support and develop public policy and PR strategies.

Stir the ingredients and you get Katz, a savvy product of the rebellious ‘60s, who now heads a highly successful PR firm called MK Communications. During Daley’s tenure as mayor, Katz has snagged PR contracts:

For the now defunct Circulator (downtown trolley), which was once high on Daley’s list of infrastructure priorities, that netted her firm $776,313.95 as of March 28, 1995.

For $104,000 on Feb. 2, 1996, for the CAPS (Community Policing) program - and on April 1, 1996, for $545,000 to develop PR for community policing.

A contract with the mayor’s office for $60,000.

Now she has been hired to sell Daley’s plan to convert Meigs Field into a park.

The flip side: Although some cops who witnessed the ‘68 riots shake their heads at Katz’s contracts, she has very avid supporters. “If I were a public official, I’d hire her in a minute,” said political strategist David Axelrod. “One of the reasons Daley likes her is because she stirs the pot, she gets people thinking. She is an idea machine.”

(snip)

It’s quite a novelty to hear David Axelrod going apoplectic and full of rage about Palin’s “negativity” when it appears that besides having worked closely with the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, the Obama and Axelrod have another terrorist, Marilyn Katz, working the PR and fundraising. The prospect of patronage jobs for Obama and Axelrod’s terrorist friends is non-starter for most voters.

You are absolutely correct - frightening is an understatement.

I’ve never owned a firearm, though I had to learn marksmanship in HS, and being it was a military HS I learned assembly and disasembly of the M1 and carbine. Now I’m seriously thinking of putting together a home defense supply. A carbine, pump action shotgun, and maybe a Remington 600. My wife used to think I was nuts for thinking about such things, now she agrees that the times may demand it. The more rads from the 60s I see connected to obama convinces me that there’s a lot more at work here than just a presidential election.

I’m still wondering about the lost years at Columbia.
Theres’ no transcript, no records that anyone can find, and from an interview that I read no one who was there at the time remembers him being in any of their classes.
Talk about a MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.

“Another radical in his background.”

Yeah, and get this, it will really blow your mind. I have heard that his WIFE, Michelle, made a speech where she called white people “Crackers” or maybe it was “Whitey,” whatever.

I know, shocking, and even though I don’t have proof, I’m just sure some video will surface showing this outrage.

Sure, I’ve been waiting a while, but everyone has talked about it so much it must be emerge...

Better not make a scene about Obama’s relationships or every talking head and newspaper in the nation will again scream racism. We have to remember that Obama is the the Messiah and is not to be criticized!

Another sicko ready to help the downtrodden.

Yeah right, it’s more like keep them downtrodden. It’s not about redistributing the wealth to the downtrodden. It’s about redestributing the wealth and power to a few elitists such as Obama and don’t expect them to share. None of the celebrities either. Do any of you know that you are paying through your states for their movies before you even buy the ticket? What a scam.
