The Republican Party on Monday morning will make a new push to convince voters that distant ties between Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former radical William Ayers are somehow disqualifying for the presidency.
The Republican National Committee plans to e-mail an audience of tens of millions the link to a new video on the subject called Guilt by Participation and encourage recipients to forward it to friends and family, aides said.
Barack Obama has no problem with forming relationships when politically convenient, says the menacing narration, accompanied by brooding music.
The title comes from a Wall Street Journal opinion piece by conservative scholar Stanley Kurtz, who wrote on Sept. 23: The Obama campaign has cried foul when Bill Ayers comes up, claiming 'guilt by association.' Yet the issue here isn't guilt by association; it's guilt by participation.
The 80-second video ends with a new slogan, a variation of one Republicans have used in the past: Barack Obama: Career First. Country Second. The slogan is likely to be used again, officials say. The video flashes garish lettering like WANTED BY FBI and DONT REGRET SETTING BOMBS.
The Obama campaign on Sunday released a roundup of media quotes headed McCain's Strategy of Distracting From the Economy ... How's It Playing With Republicans?: In case you missed them, below are stories across the country voters are reading and hearing about McCains closing strategy, even conservative pundits, Republican officials and Republican voters are rejecting it."
Among those quoted was Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, who said on Fox News Sunday: [T]he main thing to say about these negative ads, which, I dont think almost none of them has been across the line they haven't worked. Obama's favorable rating is as high as it's been in three months. It's actually gone up in the last month. So it's a stupid campaign.
Republican officials dont claim that the Ayers issue is moving numbers for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). A Republican official replied that the reason for the continued push is: Ayers has been effective from the standpoint that it helps further doubts that already exist about Obama's judgment and how much we really know about him.
The video begins: Barack Obama. He launched his political career in the home of William Ayers, a 1970s domestic terrorist, a founder of the Weather Underground in the 60s.
The Obama campaign released an ad Saturday saying he began his career at a Ramada Inn in Chicago, not in anyones living room.
On NBCs Meet the Press, former Republican House leader Rob Portman of Ohio defended the attention to Ayers: I saw yesterday there had been nine different explanations about his relationship with Bill Ayers and when he met him and who he thought he was, and so on. And so that's the issue, is his judgment and his truthfulness.
During a discussion about Ayers on Fox News Sunday, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said to McCain campaign manager Rick Davis: [E]very single charge that you've thrown out has been debunked by FactCheck.org.
It is working keep it up and throw in some Farrakhan.
and ACORN, don’t forget to throw in more ACORN.
Acorn will be next..
McCain needs to get the word out there about Ayers and Wright since I am sure only 5% of the national population has heard of Obama’s relations with Ayers and Wright.
If your not takin’ flak, your not over the target.
The more the Obamites squeel, you know it’s a good attack.
This needs to be pushed:
Obama & (Obama’s cousin) Raila Odinga (Orange Party Marxist)
Obama campaigned for him - illegally(because he was a sitting senator).

“President Mwai Kibaki’s government accused rival Raila Odinga’s party of unleashing “genocide” in Kenya on Wednesday as the death toll from tribal violence over a disputed election passed 300.”

I see a friggin recipe here, Rezco, Acorn, birth certificate, Islamic beliefs, Ayers.
How many deaf dumb and blind people do we have in America?
Remember the old saying, “You are what you eat”?
I like to think that the phrase “You are what your friends are” fits Obama well.

“I see a friggin recipe here, Rezco, Acorn, birth certificate, Islamic beliefs, Ayers”
Let’s not forget the “I want your Pie” Wife
That ad sucks as far as production value is concerned.
Mike Allen doing his best to discourage the continued Ayers attacks.
For example, Obama's tax policy. Yes BO wants to go after the those making $250,000 or more. why not point out that this group already pays more that 53% of all taxes in the United States. They also receive less than 25 cents for each dollar they spend. Barack is all about taxes being neighborlywell, that's pretty neighborly to me.
Instead of wasting so much energy on Ayers, I want to see the RNC target specific points of Obama's plans. I want to see the McCain campaign be specific about how his plans for this nation are better than Obama's plans.
Frankly, I'm damn sick and tired of all the focus on issues that we not only will never win, but have little if no impact on the people. Voters want to know which candidate will allow them to survive the meltdown. I spoke with a little old lady who had most of her assests tied up in Wachovia stocks. Her retirement fund lost 90% of its value in one day. This lady is a strong Republican, but doesn't give a damn about Bill Ayers. Putting Bill Ayers in the electric chair will not refinance her retirement funds.
Stick with the economy. Stick with energy. When we do, we gain votes.
We have to point out that FactCheck.org is biased.
Folks go there thinking, “Ah! Here I’ll find some truth!”
FactCheck.org needs to be exposed for it’s allegiances.
I think FactCheck.org ought to be mentioned in a McCain ad as a propaganda tool of the left. And, it should have a direct challenge and rebuttal by a similarly formatted but more accurate site...
The last statement in the article that began this discussion thread is:
“During a discussion about Ayers on Fox News Sunday, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said to McCain campaign manager Rick Davis: [E]very single charge that you’ve thrown out has been debunked by FactCheck.org.
The problem with this statement is that FastCheck.org is sponsored by the same foundation, the ANNENBERG FOUNDATION, that Bill Ayers secured the 49.2 million dollars from to create the Chicago ANNENBERG Challenge “philanthropic” organization in which Barack Obama was the founding Chairman of the Board for and Ayers served as the grant writer of and co-Chair of for its two operating arms.
Is FastCheck.org REALLY NONpartisan?!!!! Think again.
The following is taken direcly from the FastCheck.org website at http://www.fastcheck.org
About FactCheck.org
Our Mission
We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.
The ANNENBERG Political Fact Check is a project of the ANNENBERG Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter ANNENBERG in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state and federal levels.
The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the ANNENBERG FOUNDATION.
We report, you decide......
Oh yeah! We’ll get a lot of votes protecting those who make over $250K!
More to the point - Obama wants to raise taxes without your knowing it, so he’ll hit up ‘business’. Business will pass the cost off to you, so YOU will pay higher taxes IF you buy food, gas, heat, clothes, etc.
There is no free ride. To dramatically increase spending (”investment”), Obama must increase what the government takes. Using a business as a middleman only hides the cost from the taxpayer, and is dishonest.
And a little old lady with “most of her assets tied up in Wachovia stocks” is just damn stupid.
If it wasn’t working, ya think the media and Obama would care? They all have internals. It is apparently working.
Not to mention that the Gallup poll has closed from 11 last week to 7 today, 4 points gained in a week (due to Ayers).
Even if it doesn't work as a campaign tactic (if it doesn't, I'm inclined to think that it is more because the voters blame the Republicans wrongly for the economic crisis than because of failure of the ads), it is right to air the ads to inform the voting public. The press obviously won't do its job of vetting the candidate Obama's background, so the McCain camp has to get the Ayers information out there. Then, if the voters still want to vote the socialist into office, they will at least be doing so fully informed of Obama's background.
