NEW YORK (AP) David Letterman and Sen. John McCain will get a chance to make up.
The Republican presidential candidate is scheduled to appear on Letterman's "Late Show" on Thursday.
It will be McCain's 13th visit to the CBS program but his first since he angered Letterman by canceling last month.

Fight, fight, fight!
Is it me, am I the only one who doesn't see the point in McCain genuflecting to this guy? I really don't care for the idea that Gov. Palin is to make an appearance on SNL, it's not as though they aren't all going to turn around and insult/mock these two after they've left the stage and who seriously believes their viewers are not already in the tank for 0bama. What does it cost if they maintain their dignity and reject the invite, or is that more of a negative than they already have with this bunch?
I don’t usually watch Letterman but the best one I saw was with Dr Phil. He rather relentlessly hammered Dave on how he would explain to “that little baby” why he wasn’t married to his mother. Maybe McCain can get a few off.
Of course McCain couldn’t go on with Rush or Savage or Levin...but a good conservative like Letterman will always be a McCain favorite. And you wonder why the guy stood up and said he’s mad! MAybe McCain will endorse Obama again...you can’t tell!
i agree. What do we care about David Letterman at this point???
Is McCain insane?????
He has got bigger issues than this.
Just what kind of "attack" do you contend is going to be waged, by McCain letting Letterman portray him as a doddering fool, then at the end he pretends a gracious thank you? What do you expect SNL to do with Palin, extemporaneous jokes, shots at 0bama re: Ayres, Wright, etal? I'm lost with this, have you never seen Republican pols on these shows, the hated by the left pols??
If you don't engage your opponent on his territory, you only enforce the perception of being a loser.
I don’t know why McCain even gives letterman the time of day. Not gonna watch.
I hope he blows the show off again, then we can watch Letterman rant again.
Right. McCain got off a good one at a ralley last Friday. A supporter got up and expressed his anger that we weren't fighting hard enough to keep the socialists out of our goverment. McCain's response to him:
(paraphrased) I know Obama. He is a decent person and would make a fine president. We have nothing to worry about with Obama as president.
Followed by booing of McCain. He has deserted his 'base'.
I am beginning to think so.
I think he is trying to not be extreme...he didn’t say that Obama will be a fine president!
I didn't say "will", I said he said "would make a fine president." McCain was in a surrender mode and trying to hide from the arrows flung at him by his supporters. When you get booed at your own rally, it is over.
Insane is one word for it, the puppet masters knew he was perfect foil for slippin’ in Alfred E Neuman socialist Barry Boy.
I'll try again -- with whom?? Who do you think watches these programs and what could Sen. McCain or Gov. Palin do in the brief amount of time they will be provided to radically alter their belief-system and get them to vote GOP in November? Just what kind of engagement do you foresee here? I'll grant you the *loser perception* but in all honesty, they have that already with those who tune in regularly.
All those outlets present an edited and unflattering view of McCain/Palin (senile hoot and wacky cheerleader). Unedited event has a lot of potential to damage this leftist narrative re Rep ticket. People will see for themselves.
McCain is stupid. He won’t win votes there.
