Snyder invited her, I'm sure as more as a PR boost for hockey than a political statement.
Please, it was a mixture of boos and cheers. MOST pols get booed at sporting events, and this is a liberal city.
It’s not the end of the world.
Your reply was valid. Too bad you had to spoil it with sarcasm. If I was still undecided, responses such as yours would do little to win me over to your side.
Am I the only one who remembers Bill Clinton getting booed, vociferously, after his face showed up on the big screen at a ball game when he was a POPULAR president? Like you, I don’t excuse it, but really, is it all that much of a surprise?
my point is I think that the media are covering up ugly behavior by Obamist leftists while highlighting the “anger at McCain rallies.”
your sign up day was yesterday. Lots of trolls come and go in a day or two. If you prove not to be , welcome.
if he’d gone out with Chelsea, do you think he’d have been booed, even though she was beyond the early elementary stage? Besides, do you really believe the current media spin, that’s there’s “just so much anger at Palin and McCain rallies” that it’s frightening? After all, Bo’s the one who urged his supporters not long ago to “get up in the face and argue “with people who opposed him.
If memory serves, it was at an Atlanta Braves game and yes, Chelsea was sitting there next to him.
Hey Philly, the joke is on you if Obama wins. Fools!
coulda been, I don’t know, we’re depending on your memory, which I don’t discount. Do you remember whether she went out onto the middle of the field like Piper did last night with her Mom so that she would have been easily identified? Even so, I don’t doubt it would have happened . Just like I don’t doubt there’s as much or more anger at Obama rallies as there is at Mccain’s these days, although highlighting the “rage “ at McCain’s is the major media theme of the weekend, even as they tried 4 years ago when AP reported cheers at a Wisconsin (?) Bush rally, when it was announced that Clinton had gone into the hospital with heart trouble—nobody else heard the cheers.
That's an understatement!....:)
a whole lot of fans obviously from suburbs, and I suspect more ended up cheering. The ugliness is not about being a fan, or a Philadelphian, but an Obama supporter shaped by the media coverage of Palin, willing to boo a six-year old.
But the campaign accepted. They never should have done that. I wouldn’t shield her from everything, but this had zero chance of coming out well.
You really got this all wrong. This is Philly...but hockey fans are not your usual Obama demographic...the fact that (from my hearing/viewing of the YouTube post) Gov. Palin got cheered by much more than half the crowd speaks volumes. And Gomez was such a gentleman. This event was a positive. Plenty to fret about this cycle...but this isn’t it.
They'd have decried the "racism" of (mostly white) hockey fans.
For an interesting insight into the nuances of Palin Derangement Syndrom (PDS), check out the comments on YouTube.
What an utterly un-classy low life group of fans.
Did you post a separate thread for this article? It should be. It’s very insightful for reason you mention — how can they claim that Republicans are the haters?
I’m not fretting. My emphasis is on making sure that there is a counter argument developed to the current media spin that there is anger and hatred among McCain’s supporters that is not at least matched among Obama supporters. The Michelle Malkin article and the article about Frank Rich’s column, as well as others, are making the same effort, undoubtedly better than this one, but this was clearly and embarrassment to the MSM, to have Obama supporters behaving rudely, especially with the little girl there. Last night , the Wilmington News Journal reported “a cascade of boos.” Today, it is a “Mixture of boos , cheers,.... and polite applause.” For the fourth time I’ll note that the Fox and Friends, or whatever it’s called on Sunday, female reporter, upon hearing the video tape, said “They are really mean..”
I see your point. But the Flyer game was an orange being compared to the apples (the comments made by alleged McCain supporters at the rallies). The true comp would be the ugliness generated against Palin at the BelleView Stratford. I think in one of your posts (but it is upthread) it was mentioned that someone wanted to stone the Governor? Hopefully the SS is on this bigtime...ad that this threat is being reported.
Again that she was cheered at all is a positive. And she should dropped the puck at the Igloo last night instead...Pittsburgh is the classy end of the state.
