John McCain's campaign and the Republican National Committee plan to spend "upwards of $160 million" in the final weeks of the presidential race, according to a senior McCain adviser.
This will represent a massive counter-attack to combat Barack Obama's lopsided spending advantage to date.
The McCain adviser told FOX News that, while Obama is outspending them in all but two of 14 battleground states, "that will change over the last four weeks."
As national and battleground state polls show McCain trailing Obama consistently, McCain is urging voters not to count him out.
"In case you missed it, this is about the seventh or eighth time that pundits have said 'McCain's campaign is in trouble,'" he told Wisconsin voters Thursday. "We fooled them then and we will fool them again."

I live in the Orlando area, and the REASON you don't see many yard signs and bumper stickers is because people have to pay $3. for a yard sign and .50 to $1. for the damn bumper stickers!!! McCain hasn't provided any to the local campaign offices and many who have ordered items from his web site long ago, are STILL waiting for their shipment.
Because the public has to to pay for them (volunteers get one sign free in my area), yard signs are like GOLD and are subject to being stolen. I have to guard mine with my life. Someone has already tried to scrape my bumper sticker off my rear car window.
This is the first campaign I've volunteered for where there wasn't an abundance of yard signs and bumper stickers for people to pick up. Hopefully he'll make those available now that we're down to crunch time.
I went to the Palin rally at The Villages last month, and bought a bunch of buttons, bumper stickers, etc. The Sumter Co. / Lake Co. campaign offices up there had bought them with their own funds and were selling them.
I think McCain has to do both. He has to propose and defend the policies that he would like to implement, and keep people focused on the fact that this is more than a personality contest.
But at the same time, there has never been a race in which the personal is so important, because we’ve never had a candidate in the history of the US who has such a strange, shadowy and ominous personality and connections. So McCain has to keep that up front in people’s minds, and in addition, since many of us are already disturbed by it, he has to be ready when asked about it and I think he has the duty to be honest about it.
Yep! bttt
There’s a McCain office in Maitland and there’s no charge for signs, etc. Not sure who’s making you pay but that shouldn’t be the case.
The biggest culprit initially, was that there were NO signs available at any of the campaign offices. People went nuts after he picked Palin and it took the campaign forever to get signs out to everyone.
Exactly!
Little "Pinchy" Sulzberger
"The New York Times" is not some monolithic faceless alien oracle.
It is run by this man Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and his cadre of socialist crook propagandists from NYC's 42nd st.
Sulzberger is an enemy of the state and should be surveilled and brought up on charges of sedition.
Not yet. :)
You do realize that the term, “enemy of the state “ originated in the early days of the Soviet Union and has been used by communists world wide in describing those that object to the gulags, star chambers, killing fields, etc?
An Obama administration would make all Freepers “enemies of the state”.
What? Fleischer was a great press secretary. Just look at the scorn the White House press leeches heaped on him.
[hell ]
Hey, that’s not acceptable. :)
Screw the MSM. They have not been letting Americans know about important facts concerning the economy (dems blocking fannie reform for example) and the election. If you are fed up with the MSM help out here:
The website needs freeper help posting information now!
The only reason I had to pay was because the campaign offices were having to buy them themselves so that they'd have some available when the public came in.
Believe you me, I spent WEEKS - even before he picked Palin, and after - stopping at the various offices (down at the main HDQTRS on Semoran near the airport, the Seminole County office, etc., and they all told me how angry people were that they couldn't get any signs, etc., and that there weren't ANY available in central Florida anywhere. The first time I was able to get a sign (because I was a volunteer) was just a couple of weeks ago, and even then they weren't "free" to the public.
I suspect that a lot of people just gave up trying to get any, although as I drove through Winter Park and environs last evening, I did notice several yards were sporting them, and I saw cars with McCain/Palin stickers. I have seen NO Obama yard signs or stickers anywhere, yet.
Thanks for the info about the Maitland office. Hopefully the situation has changed in the rest of the offices, now. I will be heading into my local office to make phone calls after work this week, so I'll know then.
Guess Tony Snow set a new level then. I like Perino, she keeps them in check and she is alot better looking than any of W’s other ones.
They won’t be able suppress it at the last debate, the subject of the economic crisis is going to front and center.
It is then, I believe, when McCain is going to show his evidence of who tried to prevent that crisis from happening and who propelled it forward.
Yes, I do, and yes, I know. FReeper Rome2000 was the author of that quote in my post.
Cool sign!
bttt
Yep, me too. Already been making calls from Maitland and will be back this week as much as I can. My whole street in WP has McCain signs! I don’t see many obummer signs either. I don’t think the majority of America trust him at all.
Fleischer is still the best of the crop. But I still like Rumsfeld, so what do I know?
I received an email about it yesterday, too. If you look at Hannity’s America website http://www.foxnews.com/hannitysamerica/
there are three great segments there.

I can’t tell from the website if it is actually scheduled for tonight or not. I would like to send emails to people but don’t want to unless this is a sure deal.
