We don’t even know if he said “honourable defeat” in any context. Stop repeating propaganda. The entire story is TOTAL disinformation filled with lies to depress Repub turnout and cause division in our ranks. Geez.

Or these kinds of releases could be laying the groundwork for the possible crash on election night. Note also that there have been several articles suggesting that the Dems could get a filibuster-proof Senate.

It is difficult to say. McCain is being McCain. There is no figuring him out. I am beginning to think McCain is more interested in being a campaigner than in actually being president. He has been a media darling for the last 8 years. He likes that. His run for the presidency gives him allot of face time on TV. He likes that.

Let me respond this way. I don’t see why the London Times reporter would make this up. My understanding is that they are conservative and probably friendlier to McCain than other British media. Moreover, what this reporter is reporting is, unfortunately, very plausible to me. It is consistent with some of my own guesses about what has been going on inside the McCain campaign.

McCain has a choice: Bob Dole or Harry Truman. Bob Dole would not go after Clinton in the way that he had to do in order to have any chance of winning. By contrast, Harry “give ‘em hell” Truman did just that, but explained that he was simply telling the truth and his opponent thought it was hell. Truman won, Dole lost. Negative campaining works when it is truthful and makes meaningful points. If you want to see how it’s done, watch Sarah Palin’s speech today in PA. It was devastating. You can watch the video at C-Span’s website.
