Plaintiffs filed their class action lawsuit on July 6, 1994, alleging that Citibank had engaged in redlining practices in the Chicago metropolitan area in violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), 15 U.S.C. 1691; the Fair Housing Act, 42 U.S.C. 3601-3619; the Thirteenth Amendment to the ... read more >

In these lawsuits, ACORN makes a bogus claim of Redlining (denying poor people loans because of their ethnic heritage). They protest and get the local media to raise a big stink. This stink means that the bank faces thousands of people closing their accounts and get local politicians to lobby to stop the bank from doing some future business, expansions and mergers. If the bank goes to court, they will win, but the damage is already done because who is going to launch a big campaign to get the banks reputation back?
It is important to understand the nature of these lawsuits and what their purpose is. ACORN filed tons of these lawsuits and ALL of them allege racism.

So what? McCain won’t talk about it.
If McCain won’t fight, it’s over.
If Obozo is the next president, the axis of evil will be complete, Reid - Pelosi - Obama.
The axis will no longer be asking for loans they will be giving houses away to these people, these houses will come from the TARP WS bailout bill.
Obama knew taxpayers would pick up the tab for defaulted loans... Heck every good liberal Socialist knows the gubmint is never broke because we bitter clinger taxpayers are dupes.
Time for another Tea party if you ask me... how bout a national tax boycott. I refuse to particiapte in any Obama run socialist ponzi schemes.
LOL the IRS cant get us all
If WE the PEOPLE won't step up to the plate and do our part - it's over.
Too many just sit back and natter.
It' like expecting Gen. Petreaus to win the war without troops behind him.
We have a gov't that's supposed to be OF the PEOPLE, FOR the PEOPLE and BY the PEOPLE..."BY" being the watchword.
Have YOU emailed important evidence/stories to the media? Have you helped out at your local Republican HQ? Have you written letters to the editor? Have YOU made phone calls and sent emails to your representatives and demanded they make these things public - that they support McCain/Palin and expose the real culprits behind the economic collapse? Have y ou demanded that the Guilty Gang be investigated and held accountable - people like Dodd, Barney and Obama? That last one along would get lots of valualbe coverage if the media and Washington suddenly got millions of calls and emails demanding Dodd and Frank and gang be investigated. It would alert more people to the fct tha it was he democrats, not the repblicans and not McC that brought this mes down on us.
Washington and the press heard the American people when they rose up loud and clear over the bailout bill. It's up to the US in the U. S.
McCain/Palin can't carry the whole load. (Didn't your mama ever read you "The Little Red Hen?" Too many republicans have become lulled into liberal-think: expect those in Washington to do everything for us.

if mccain doesn’t win it will be because conservatives also did not want to hold their noses (or whatever it takes) and vote for him for the sake of the country. There’s no such thing as the perfect candidate but mccain is what we have and we don’t always get what we want in this world.
I bet this “disappears” too.
Did he really cite the 13th Amendment? That’s the one that outlaws slavery. He ought to be disqualified by virtue of stupidity if he made the argument that private entities failing to make bad loans to poor neighborhoods constitutes slavery.
Part of the problem lies with the shareholders. We need a way to prevent these companies (of which we own a part) from making these loans. Perhaps there needs to be a push for shareholder reform.
