Analysis: Who in the Arab world benefits from crisis?

Since we are discussing the Middle East, it is appropriate to ask "who benefits" from the current worrying situation. Political commentator Rami Khouri, writing in the Beirut Daily Star, notes that "this is not a situation we can blame on anyone but ourselves." Khouri hopes that the crisis will produce a sobering effect in the politics of the region.

But while it would be comforting to believe that the gravity of the crisis may lead to a sudden outbreak of political maturity, one would be unwise to bet on the prospect. The most notable political response to the financial crisis so far has come from Islamist political circles. The response has taken the form of unabashed glee at America's discomfiture, along with attempts to cast the blame for the situation on that ever reliable stand-by - the Jew.

Thus, Al-Manar, Hizbullah's media station, is currently holding an opinion survey of its viewers, asking them "Do you agree with those who see in the international financial crisis the beginning of the US Empire's fall?"

Unsurprisingly, 84.5% of Al-Manar viewers polled have answered in the positive. The Al-Manar Web site is also running an article under the headline "Jewish Lobby in US to blame for world financial crisis." The article details the statement by Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum in which he identified the "Jewish lobby" as the body responsible for the creation of the US financial and banking sector, and asserted that it should therefore take the blame for the current situation.

it was a bubble.

they’re stupid if they think any dramatic increase in a commodity can continue forever.

You know with Muslims it’s all perception. Facts don’t matter.

The article said (about the world-wide stock markets dropping and dropping) — “This fact has political implications for the region, which are already being glimpsed and acted upon by various regional forces.

The first and most obvious reason why the Arab world is particularly vulnerable to the financial crisis is that a disproportionately large amount of Arab wealth is invested in global stock markets.”

I would like to see the Arabs lose 1/2 of their oil wealth that was basically extorted and stolen from the West, by a drop in the markets of up to 50%. The Arabs deserve the pain. Let their money disappear into thin air... LOL...

It would be nice if we could lose their money without losing ours, but that would be hard to pull off.

Yeah, very true..., that would be a nice trick.

But, the consolation is that we’re in better shape to lose that kind of wealth than they are. They are not diversified and this hits them really hard (good! LOL...), while our economy is diversified. And although it’s a major hit for us, too — it really is devastating for them — *on top of* — their oil prices dropping through the floor... :-) ....

if we start drilling now, they will, in a short time begin feeling the pinch, IMO.

To answer the headline, the Arab that benefits the most is Barack Hussein Obama.

Any other questions?

Muslims will be the next superpowers and it won’t be very far down the road. They have so much money we won’t be able to stop their buying up almost everything since the US dollar is going under with the bailouts by the trillions. The US created this monster when they refused to drill and have sent our money by the billions to the muslims. Remember they hate us and their plan to control the world will come to pass at our demise. The worship of allah is mandatory in their countries and Europe is learning that living with muslims means going by muslim laws. There are 1.6 billion muslims and they now have endless resources in which to take over. China may try to expand their powers in Africa but I think their economy is going in the tank since America won’t be buying nearly as much.

Russia was getting started with the oil economy, but they spend so much on military, they don’t have the money needed to take charge of a world that needs cash and loans. They are a definite threat to our security, but I don’t think they can out maneuver the muslims. In fact, they will probably be in bed with them at some point.

The middle east is about to have a peace treaty. They have divided up the temple mount and have given a little territory to each religion. The pope has said the muslims worship the same god as the cathelics. In other words, there will be some form of world community religious tolerance but you will be regarded as tolerant if you say that allah is the same god as the Christian God. I think the muslims will then start telling us what we must do in order to have anything. Banks, business’, etc. will have to go to them for money.

America has squandered our freedoms and turned our children over to slavery. You think it won’t be that bad?
Just put your head back in the sand then. Don’t watch your money disappear and pay no attention to the riots that are coming. Obama is most likely the perfect puppet to sit at the table of the muslims. Uh Uh we all know what a smooth talker he is and they will be so impressed with our half black/muslim/antichristian racist president.

The Arab world is set to benefit from the world crisis by using their money to sieze control in the name of allah.
With dingy dems in control of congress we are doomed to keep sending our money abroad and fighting any industry with regulations and environmental judicial decisions.

Health care will now be the next priority in the US, ignoring the reality that we have no money. If Obama gets in then the military will be cut to the bone, giving our enemies and especially the muslims a golden opportunity to
rule.

Just a few thoughts to chew on. I’ve read a lot about the middle east and expect them to take advantage of this disaster.

I believe in 25 years we will not recognize the United States of America. I barely recognize it now.
