Obama gets blue-light special rate for primetime TV address (More proof of media bias)
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 10/11/2008 | Jimmy Orr

Posted on 10/11/2008 5:39:35 PM PDT by tobyhill

Sarah Palin will probably still beat his ratings when she appears on Saturday Night Live in two weeks, but Barack Obama is getting a pretty good deal.

The first presidential candidate to buy up network TV time in 16 years, the Democratic nominee for President is getting primetime airspace at a sub-prime rate.

Obama will reportedly only be paying $1 million to every network that airs his 30 minute infomercial on October 29. So far, both CBS and NBC will run the program. The campaign is reportedly still talking to ABC and FOX as well.

Everything is above board. The campaign is being charged the “lowest unit cost” as mandated by federal law.

Hannity’s not prime-time broadcast news. Hannity is also not the presidential candidate.

Or did you mean Hannity’s already done the prep work?

Because no one can stomach McCain talking for 30 minutes. Let’s face it, he isn’t the best communicator in the world.

No kidding. What's he good at? Attacking fellow Republicans? Consulting Al Gore? Cavorting with John Kerry? Beating other politicians to the camera? Worst GOP presidential candidate EVER.

My point, obviously. You’re blowing smoke about the dough. It’s not a question of “can he afford it”. It’s a question of “does he have the will to do it”.

Hundred bucks. I’ll give him another Ben Franklin if he’ll do it. I’m sure there’s 10,000 more like me.

McCain doesn't ask me for my money. He took it with his Wall Street bailout, took it when he announced his socialist plan to buy up America's mortgages, took it when he wrote the outrageous McCain-Lieberman carbon tax bill.

$1,000,000 for 30 minutes of prime time during the in season.

Nooo, they aren’t giving him a bargain.

He had a 1 hour show dedicated to what you listed last Saturday or Sunday. No, he's not the candidate, which actually might work more in McCain's favor. If McCain did as you suggest, people might view it as 'less than truthful' coming from the candidate himself.

But who knows...I'm exhausted trying to figure out what 1/2 of America sees in Obama and past exhausted hoping something...anything...will stick to him.

They are giving Obamarama a bargain, but federal law requires them too. The networks are required to charge candidates the "lowest unit rate" -- which means the same rate for prime time on October 29 that they charge for a 3am slot on a Monday morning in January.

Can’t argue with you. Still I’m 110%** behind McCain/Palin**. No, it’s not because I like him, it’s because the alternative is unthinkable (especially in concert with both houses of Congress).

** the math breaks down like so: 3% behind McCain + 107% behind Palin = 110%...

“why isn’t McCain doing this? Why?”

Why isn’t he doing a lot of things he could/should have been doing?

CALLING OBAMA A RESPECTABLE FAMILY MAN THAT WE NEED NOT FEAR IS OUTRAGEOUS!

McCAIN TAKING THE ABUSE AND INSULTS FROM OBAMA AND REFUSING TO FIGHT BACK IS OUTRAGEOUS!

WE’RE NOT TURNING THE WHITE HOUSE KEYS OVER TO BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA- NOT IF WE ON FR, RUSH, HANNITY AND FOX HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!

FReep McCAIN/ MSM OUT.

HOW LONG CAN THEY IGNORE A MILLION EMAILS??

.

McCain is losing this campaign because he refuses to fight Obama and his lies, and dirty tactics such as ACORN voter fraud. He’s just been rolling over (or bending over, I should say) and accepting the abuse heaped upon him- and expecially Sarah Palin.
The anemic attempts by the McCain camp to fight back within the last few days just ain’t gonna get it.
He should have been hitting Obama back hard months ago.
He needs to get out there every day and FIGHT BACK.
Email Republican headquarters/McCain.

FReep ‘EM OUT!

CAN THEY IGNORE A MILLION EMAILS?

REMIND McCAIN THAT HE HAS AN OBLIGATION AS OUR CANDIDATE TO FIGHT BACK!
To h*ll with bipartisian BS!
To h*ll with PC!
To h*ll with ‘conducting a respectful campaign’as McCain has said, and vowed to do.

RESPECTFUL CAMPAIGNING WENT STRAIGHT OUT THE WINDOW WITH OBAMA’S NASTY, BRUTAL COMMENTS SUCH AS;
‘lipstick on a pig’ and ‘You can wrap AN OLD FISH in a piece of paper called change. It’s still going to stink after eight years.’

Take off the gloves, McCain!

Hit the Marxist/Muslim hard with Ayers, Acorn, Violation of Logan Act, abortion, 2nd admendment, Campaigning for Odinga!!
Get off the d*mned economy issue. State that Obama/Democrats/ACORN caused this meltdown. State McCain offered a proposal to avert the meltdown and GET OFF IT.
Obama is counting on keeping this going to take the spotlight off his sordid past and dirty dealings!
NOTHING is more important than waking America up to this Marxist/Muslim!! DO IT. EXPOSE HIM!

It’s a question of “does he have the will to do it”.

Will? I agree he has the money....It's a question of value or bang for buck....I assume they believe the money can be spent better on other events/buys.

** the math breaks down like so: 3% behind McCain + 107% behind Palin = 110%...

Yeah, but the difference between the President and the Vice President is that the President has actual power. Don't think for a second that McCain will ever consult Palin. He's never consulted her during the campaign (remember when she found out from the NEWS that the campaign was pulling out of Michigan???). This is a guy who pays lip service to conservatives, but marginalizes them whenever he has to make a call.

Not saying don't vote for McCain, but don't kid yourself either -- for McCain, Palin is a gimmick and he will make sure she's kept far away from any power.
