LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Sen. John McCain spoke out against the growing nastiness his Republican crowds have been demonstrating toward Barack Obama, asking that his presidential rival be treated with respect.
At a town hall meeting Friday afternoon, he took four different opportunities to promise that he will treat the Democratic nominee with respect and to ask the same of his supporters.
Still, his campaign is hardly backing down. On Friday, it released a TV ad linking Sen. Obama to a 1960s radical.
At the town hall meeting, one audience member said that he and his wife are expecting a child next year. "Frankly, we're scared. We're scared of an Obama presidency," the questioner said.

I just wrote this in another thread too.... I think McCain could have sounded tough but not personal by reassuring scared supporters of his that America will *overcome* problems created by 0bama. The nation through its greatness and strength of its people will be OK even if this loon gets elected. If he worded it that way it would have sounded better than his ringing endorsement of 0bama’s character.
I just wish I believed we will be able to overcome. I’m not so sure.

Another thing: Did you see the Sean Hannity interview segment aboard the campaign plane with McCain and Cindy? Well, guess who was riding upfront with the boss, laughing and joking with John and Cindy? — Lindsey Graham, original member of the gang of 14. If ‘no nuts’ Lindsey is a senior adviser, then we’re all screwed. Good grief.

Stop reposting yesterday’s news. All we do it stir up the hornet’s nest. McCain said today he is angry.
Again, McCain’s instincts lead him astray. If there is no reason to be scared of Obama, then why does the election matter except as a change of parties and personalities? Obama and his crew have the potential to do grave damage to the county, and with McCain’s faltering in the polls, there is good reason to be scared.
Why should I respect a liar who thinks he has the RIGHT to be President? Barack Hussein Obama has not earned the respect, nor the right to be near the White House, let alone CIC. The only reason he loves the USA is for the power it would give socialists when they take it over.
He may not deserve it, but that has nothing to do with Senator McCain maintaining respect for his opponent, in and during the campaign.
It is a Presidential campaign, and deserves respect, even if the Dems and MSM don't think so.
Since I’m not a McCain supporter, then I guess this directive isn’t for me.
The media is trying to write off people against Obama as racists and fabricating that the KKK is just around the corner. McCain as usual doesn’t deny the narrative but accepts it and urges it to stop.
Whatever.
Not playing the game.
The topic of the week is Acorn and Ayers and the economy and I’m not shifting gears to defense.
Why should I respect a man who openly campaigned for a MARXIST in Raila Odinga? Worse, Odinga was running against a PRO-AMERICAN leader who was dedicated to fighting Al-Queda in Kenya. Obama is a TRAITOR.
he doesn’t. but the last thing we want is for Obama to do a little jujutsu and take all this anger and use it against it...making us look like a bunch of desperate kooks.
Let Sarah and the campaign take care of the attacks. He needs to at least for now seem logical and even serene.....Look what they did when he went back to Washington.
“All we do it stir up the hornets nest. McCain said today he is angry.”
Well, that’s a little to late, don’t you think?
The time for pushing Obambi’s shove was two months ago with a constant, constant refrain over socialist philosophy that Obambi believes in. This campaign was a Dole moment. I’m beginning to think that our hard work was just marking time and place for the future.
The campaign is definitely without an overarching theme or ability to connect with people. Palin’s arrival proved that and then, she was squandered.
Angry. Heck yes because of what we may probably have to live with politically.
I’m a student of Russian history in all its guises and forms over its history. Once upon a time, decades ago, it was to be a profession, now it is simply an avocation. This scares me. It also scares me because of the possibility of reprisals.
Why, why, why, why???
It seems to me that, so called, asymmetric warfare is extremely effective going by the left’s influence over (many would say control) the judiciary, academia, the media as well as conducting widespread voter fraud and even wrecking the world’s greatest economy via the Community Reinvestment Act with the help of ACORN thugs. Finally, the ongoing vicious bile hurled for 8 humiliiating years against a decent and honorable president (Bush) as well as Sarah Palin and her innocent family has been a complete one way concerted assault by the left. Conservatives don’t need to scream shrill lies like the left have - they can actually nail this prick Obama with the truth about his scumbag associations, his activities with ACORN, his socialist political history and even his nationality and true religious leanings. Hell, McCain has to realise that this is no ordinary fight following the Marquis of Queensbury rules among gentlemen or some such. The destructive filth surrounding Obama has to be exposed loud and as often as the public is given rare and candid access to McCain and Palin. As I said, the media is in the left’s pocket. Come on McCain, fight, fight hard and at times fight dirty, even if you have to draw a long bow at times but for God’s sake, not only for America, fight!!!
Hey, John, Obumwad is evil incarnate and undeserving of respect from any honorable person. He also scares the crap out of me as he does every truly patriotic American. So keep your mealy-mouthed, craven comments to yourself if you still harbor any hopes of winning this election. If not, give Sarah the point! Because then, win or lose, we won’t feel like we’ve been abandoned.
“If he should win[ steal the election ], Hussein will NEVER BE MY PRESIDENT.”
Yup.
Well what do you propose the theme should be?
“Why is okay for Congressman John Lewis to make false charges against John McCain?”
Why? Quite simply, because John lewis is black. He can say whatever he wants, no matter how outrageous, and he suffers no consequences (he is, by virtue of who and what he is, immune from criticism). Welcome to the New America.
“Well what do you propose the theme should be?”
You should have asked 18 months ago.
Then tomorrow he can apologize for his “anger”.
