lurid claims about Mr Obama's links with the former terrorist Bill Ayres and a lynch mob atmosphere at McCain rallies. I'm speechless.

Both presidential rivals are working behind the scenes to calm the increasingly incendiary atmosphere on the campaign trail, which erupted with lurid claims about Mr Obama's links with the former terrorist Bill Ayres and a lynch mob atmosphere at McCain rallies. Are you kidding me?!!!
Not what I am hearing. It's a downright happy place at those McCain rallies.

"There's no question about it. I think we'll see Barack Obama reach out to him and say: 'let's work together'." Those two working together (with Obama as Prez) is about the most uncomforting thought imaginable.

Yeah, but John McCain doesn’t want to pick up after all the trash coming to the White House if he wins.

I’m reminded of that final scene in “300”, where Xerxes offers Leonidas a job if only he will bow down...

I notice Sarah Palin gets no such offer.
That’s to her credit.

I hope the partisan rancor increases.
I think Obama will win, and I want to make sure that even the tiniest pecadillos are made into major issues that disarm him politically.

Look at the “sources.” I’m not buying this. Just more Marxist propaganda.
