ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - It's unclear what impact the so-called "troopergate" investigation in Alaska may have on the presidential election. (see video report)
A report from a state legislative committee says Governor Sarah Palin violated Alaska's ethics laws and abused her power by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper. But the committee has no authority to sanction Palin, and is not recommending a criminal investigation.
The next step, if any, is up to Alaska's state Personnel Board. If it were to decide Palin violated ethics law, it could refer the matter to the Senate president for disciplinary action. But it's unlikely all that could happen before the election.
The real impact of the committee's investigation could be whether voters believe the committee's report.

you know what I believe?...I believe the people of Alaska side with Sarah on this....who want to have a trooper running about after all of his crimes?....and Todd Palin wouldn't be a man worth his salt if he didn't get mad over this...

They have been pounding it everywhere you look since last night. It’s saturation propaganda, which is a media specialty.
This thing wasn’t as damaging as they hoped, no action will be taken until at least a couple weeks after the election (if ever at all) and frankly it has no legs. They will try and pound this story for a another day maybe but after that what else can really be said about it? It’s not like there will be any new developments.
I think this report is an embarrasement for the democrats that wrote it and the dem-loving MSM if they run with it. That’s why it was released late on a Friday.
“The real impact of the committee’s investigation could be whether voters believe the committee’s report.”
What report are they talking about? (s)
Looks to me like the story is already starting to fade. I poked around on the web and saw that it is being relegated down to the bottom of various news sites and will soon be cycled out.
When Obama starts answering some serious questions, we might take Palin’s “issue” more seriously. This is a farce.
If the Democrats in Alaska come after Palin in the event she loses the election, I suggest she start a Governors committee to investigate the state legislative committee, and find that the state legislative committee abused its power by using its power.
If I have been in the McCain campaign, I would have told them to go to the public and say, “You know what? The jerk threatened my father’s life, he tasered my nephew, he beat the hell out of my sister, and worked while drunk! I think most of you would have beat the crap out of him, and I should have!”
With a D after her name- ZERO
With an R after her name- Front page news, political oblivion.
The repercussions are unknown but of course the crAP will dream some up to provide talking points for the DNC drones tomorrow.
A local Lefty was spammin’ every thread about Obama on a local board last night with this crap.
LISTEN, the only way to make the media pay for it's injustices is to hire private detectives to dig into the closets of the medias talking heads and owners. All legally, and turn the skeletons they find over to the legal authorities and if they don't do anything then shout it to the public! Detectives can only work in states where they are licensed so we would have to hire detectives from New York, and Illinois, and California, and D.C., where the networks have offices, and studios. So let's pool our money and send some to New York as a start to dig up dirt on the so called "journalists", like what they tried to do to Governor Sarah Palin. Sort of a "what is goods for the goose...." kind of thing.LET'S GO NOW, NO EXCUSES! NOW IS THE TIME! I heard somewhere ,that they are already investigating MSNBC talking heads! Good for them!
Haha the media asking for help in spinning this against Palin.
Politically driven investigation is all. The bottom line is that she pressured (or at least, her husband pressured and she didn’t intervene) one of her State employees to fire a State cop who was dangerous to the public and who admittedly tasered a 10 year old.
Any *reasonable* person (which thus excludes any in-the-tank Osammie supporters) would applaud her for doing so! The fact is: a Governor has the right to fire any damn State employee who is dangerous and/or detrimental to the well-being of her/his State and its citizens!
The “repercussions”? Probably an increased national vote for the Republican ticket of about 2 percent.
