Obama Thanks McCain for Call to Tone Down Rhetoric
Washington comPost ^ | 10/11/2008 | Robert Barnes

Democrat Barack Obama said today that he appreciated John McCain's attempts yesterday to soften the harsh and negative tone that has marked the past week of the presidential campaign, but said recent remarks by McCain's campaign manager showed that the Arizona senator "doesn't get it'' when it comes to the economic crisis.

Obama conducted an early morning blitz of this heavily Democratic city, where Obama and the state's top elected Democrats held four "mini-rallies" to energize supporters for Nov. 4.

"I want to acknowledge that Senator McCain tried to tone down the rhetoric in his town hall meeting yesterday, and I appreciated his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other,'' Obama said during a rally in the parking lot of Progress Plaza, an inner-city shopping center. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- Senator McCain has served this country with honor. He deserves our thanks for that."

Why don't you just hold the door open to the Oval Office for him while you're at it, Mac.

Of course Obama is thanking him. He sees it working for McCain. He’s no dummy. Unfortunately, McCain seems to be a big dummy.

McCain is Bobdole two. And we all remember the first one too well, with his Viagra ads after the election.

Wow, I’m so glad The One has chosen to be magnanimous.
Aren’t we lucky to have Him?
What other wonderful things will He have in store for us??

Well, the election is now over. The polls will wildly swing in McCain’s favor, producing a 40 state landslide victory with a 10% margin of victory in the popular vote. /s

Why is Obama spending time in this “heavily Democrat city”?

If I were as far ahead as the MSM says he is then I would be in downtown Salt Lake City or Boise, or Anchorage trying to steal “Red” electoral votes.

Hmmmmm....

I’ll bet that Obama plants operatives in the crowd yelling out nasty things, in the hope that McCain will not respond, letting Obama claim that McCain supports “hate” rhetoric at his speeches. So maybe McCain was on to this and was smart to respond the way he did.

It sounds like McCain is taking campaign advise from the Obama campaign.
He used almost word for word what they were complaining about.

Bob Dole left the Senate to run. McCain is keeping his seat, and will likely return to the Senate and reach across the aisle to forge compromises with the new Administration.

I prefer Bob Dole.
