Some overseas soldiers' voting hampered

American soldiers can hump 60-pound packs through the broiling desert, kill for their country and die for it, but they can't always vote for their commander in chief.

A solution has long been proposed: Just get rid of the Byzantine process which forces those in far-flung battle zones to vote by mail that must be delivered to thousands of local election districts across the United States.

Advertisement But the Pentagon has found that bringing military voting into the 21st century is not so simple.

The number of absentee military ballots applied for that ultimately get counted is consistently low. In the last federal election, only about 30 percent of overseas military ballots were tallied, according to data from the federal Election Assistance Commission, which monitors election problems, and the Pew Center on the States.

It’s the same old story every election...

“only about 30 percent of overseas military ballots were tallied”

This is completely unacceptable.

The army has no trouble getting mail to the troops; it should be able to pick up their ballots and get them returned, as a priority for the military and the Post Office.

(As well, missing 70% of the overseas military ballots this election will hurt one party much more than the other party. And some of the states are going to be very, very close races...)

However if you are a bum living in a refrigerator box or a crack head, no problem. Acorn will get you to the ballot box.

So my Army Capt. brother may not get to vote once but the crackwhore down the street will probably vote 72 times? Am I right?

It looks that way I'm sorry to say. But what he hell. It serves a noble cause. A sorry socialist asshole gets to dictate how our lives should be conducted. Don't you feel better now.

I’m ready to take the streets weapon in hand. I never talk like this but recent events have my blood pressure up.

The Dems clearly don't want to allow the Military vote.

Send an email to your (republican) Representatives and tell him/her not to cancel the military vote again.

I’m at a CONUS base. For the past several years, every one of my Michigan ballots showed up early. My ballot for this POTUS election has not yet arrived...

I understand how you feel but don't let emotion substitute for reason. That never works.

Some of us will have to borrow another state’s Senators for this task.

If you want me to be honest I have to say I'm not sure at this point. We have too many California transplants. And as much as I hate to say this Harry Reid comes from this great state. Again too many assholes from California have moved here and infected our politics.
