AP: Legislative panel: Palin abused authority (AP Gotcha Headline)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.

The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.

Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

So, I'm watching CNN and Clinton assclown Lanny Davis, who HASN'T READ the report, just kind of throws out that it maybe an impeachable offense. He's lucky I wasn't sitting next to him, because I would have said, “Really Lanny, like when Hillary fired all the travel office employees in the White House?”

"They are policing her THOUGHTS in this report"

...And don't forget that many of 'Them' were in Florida, holding butterfly ballots to their foreheads and mystically gloming 'voter intent' in an effort to give Fat Albert the 2000 election.

The best thing Palin can do is, in front of a huge crowd tomorrow is say:

“I want to that the panel for their hard work. This is an inquiry I asked for and welcomed. I am still reviewing the final report and will certainly follow any recommendation they have made. I appreciate their hard work and I promise all of Alaska that I will learn from this experience. Now let's talk about Obama...”

LOL, it's worked well enough with the Bush Administration, hasn't it? Nowadays it's all about the nature of the charges, guilty until proven innocent, and no evidence of innocence is allowed in the court of public opinion.

Your post is nails it.
It is now over also I fear. The first few weeks after Palin was nominated I was feeling good. Many folks I would call “independents” were pleased and intrigued by her and her candidacy. Things looked good.
But since the Gibson/ Couric interviews, the reaction I am seeing by most of these people now is that she is a dolt. She reminds them of Bush.

Is it too late for her to drop out because of this and someone else step in? Who could it be? Would it make a difference?

And please do not doubt my commitment to conservatism or think that I am not thrilled by Gov. Palin. I am just being realistic. We cannot fight this DNC/MSM machine that is up to speed and firing on all cylinders.

OMG! Have you seen the clip of Faricon calling Oboma the Muslim Messiah? When the Messiah speaks, the world will listen? It's devastating!

Yes I did see that, and if more people see it--IT alone will turn off those considering Obama, unless of course they are liberals.

the key in that whole thing is:

In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads

Article says “unlawfully.” Confused.

It's in the Ossociated Press style book, which may have been written by child molesters, BTW.

Good God. Have neither of you been through an election?

Your assessment is wrong, Ilya. Palin has already won over the voters she'll get at this late date. The mouth-breathers who don't get the media manipulation won't snap out of their daze long enough to make it to the polls.

cogburn, your "independents" are affected by the "cool kids are Democrats" syndrome. They are revealed for the mouth-breathers that they are.

They'd better stay away from tlelevision sets, lest they end of with a houseful of useless crap they bought from ads on late-night teevee. "But the nice man on the teevee said the knives would be sharp forever!"

In other words when she fired him for legitimate reasons she also had bad thoughts that would have been an improper reason for firing him.

As I've said, she needs to explain things simply: according to her accusers' logic, once Wooten attacked her family and Monegan refused to fire him, such refusal obligated her to keep Monegan regardless of what other reasons she would have had to dismiss him.

Spec, I wish I could be more positive, but these “independents” are not kids. They are middle aged people who genuinely think that Palin is a dolt. They fear that she is not ready to be president should McCain leave office. I have spoken till I am blue in the face with them but they just have these doubts. And I live in usually solid GOP territory (Manatee/Sarasota county Fl). The MSM has made a caricature out of her.
I am seeing less fire in the local campaign HQ. I really fear that this trooper situation and the MSM’s focus on it for the next week is the nail in the coffin.
McCain has to go nuclear by Monday or it could be an ugly election.

Hey AuntB,

Funny how the clowns spent $100,000 to yield this. Even in their extreme efforts to cast an ugly light on the Palin's, here is what Todd Palin the "First Dude" said.

I will release more when authorized.

That said, the report unequivocally states that Sarah Palin is in violation of Alaska’s ethics law by allowing a personal issue to interfere in her duties.

not sure how that could be proved - e/mail sent to someone? i was telling a lie

that law seems like vapor to me - could she sign an abortion law if she had an abortion? what if she did not have an abortion?

divining intent in an action is stoopid as hate laws

We deserve the government we elect. If The Messiah gets elected, then so be it.

Just prepare yourself and your family, and when the poop comes down, be ready to pee in your friends' cornflakes.

"Aren't you glad you believed the Mainstream Media about Palin? What did you say your tax bill was again?
