I had written to my (R) Representative and my (S) Senator along with my (D) Senator repeatedly asking them not to vote for the bailout. I ultimately got form-letter emails back from all of them, about how unfortunate, but necessary the bill was. Tonight, after the Paulson announcement, I replied to them:

So, the Nationalization of our financial sector, not exactly mentioned in the EESA, was one of the further steps ‘necessary’ to resolve this crisis? You, sir, have betrayed your Oath of Office, and betrayed the memory of all those who have fought to maintain the freedom of this great country. Many of us still believe our freedoms come from God, not man, and that our government still requires the consent of the governed. Our forefathers, including those of the Greatest Generation, laid their lives on the line for that freedom. You overstepped your authority and betrayed those who gave their lives when you voted for this bill, and you set the stage for what Hank Paulson announced today.

I completely understand that we, the USA, damaged the economy of the world by turning a blind eye to the reckless lending our government was requiring banks to do. I am fully aware that the other nations of the world, who are losing wealth along with us in the dreadful fallout from that error, would be demanding compensation. I also believe that if our government were up-front with the people, explained how “we” screwed up, explained how much we owe in restitution to the world, and told us a repayment plan has been agreed upon, that WE, the American People, would (reluctantly) agree to accept responsibility, work hard at re-growing the economy, and pay our debts. Instead, every one of our elected officials chooses to hide the truth, because you have all become such elitists that you think we are too stupid to understand the stakes here. Maybe you should try truth – I bet we’d surprise you.

You need to step out in front of the camera’s TODAY and tell us the truth, and acknowledge that nationalization is NOT the way to repay our debts, and agree to go back to operating under the LIMITED powers the US Constitution gives you.

Since everyone’s email and webpage seem to be down, I took the liberty of “reply to”, with some editing, so maybe someone will see it.

Conceptually I agree....back to limited fed gov! As to an approach, I'd recommend that emails to our congress critters take a simpler, 1-2-3, approach:

1) ACORN abused CRA, forcing banks to provide ‘free’ mortgage money to illegals and other debt abusers through fraud and corruption.
2) ICE chased the illegals out of the country, resulting in foreclosures
3) the other ‘free money’ participants defaulted, expanding the foreclosure pyramid.

Resulting in the collapse of the financial system in the US, bear raids by corrupt hedge funds, bank failures, and expanding the FNM-FRE debt debacle worldwide, with a complicit FASB, SEC, FNM, FRE, and Congress. The only ‘rescue plan’ left will be to fire the thousands of ‘managers’ who engineered this crisis last year in ALL the corrupt government organizations (where is a governmental Sarbanes-Oxley?) promoting ‘mark-to-market’ accounting. Please advise how you intend to proceed with the effort to end these corrupt practices and return the USA to a competitive, limited government, free society. At the very least Repeal Sarbanes-Oxley!
