Obama buys airtime on networks for anniversary of Black Tuesday in 1929
By MARGARET TALEV McClatchy Newspapers
Barack Obama is buying a half-hour slot on television networks in prime time Oct. 29, the anniversary of Black Tuesday of 1929, when panic in the stock markets set in ahead of the Great Depression.
Obama, leaving a campaign stop in a diner in Georgetown, Ohio, on Thursday evening, declined to say whether he plans to address the current economic crisis in the context of the depression.
He wouldnt talk about the nature of the programming, saying, "Were going to be talking about it tomorrow."
Linda Douglass, a senior adviser to Obama, confirmed Thursday evening that the campaign has bought time on NBC and CBS.
She said the campaign will buy airtime on Fox, unless the network is carrying a World Series game that night, and that no arrangement had been made with ABC.
Douglass also wouldnt release any information about how much the airtime is costing the campaign or any information about the programming.
The last candidate to make such a purchase was Ross Perot in 1992.
The ads will run six days before the Nov. 4 election, following weeks of economic crisis, including massive stock-market losses, global investor panic and Congress passage of a $700 billion bailout for Wall Street.

No, I bet that Barry throws a lamp with a lot more force and accuracy than Hillary.
I don’t believe that this time is to explain the Ayers issue alone.
I think he is sensing that all his chickens are coming home to roost shortly. All issues are about to be put on the table including his citizenship questions.
He is just preparing now, to not look too panicked later on.
“...That little POS is practically hoping the stock market will die so that he can win the White House...”
Soros will be sure to make it happen too.
I wonder how much of the current volatility is due to the “Obama Effect”.
This deserves a barf alert. Sorry bambi, can’t watch your TV show I’ll be washing my hair.
I’d rather watch a Paris Hilton/Brittney Spears special than that POS.
Perhaps I am just exhausted from concern about how all this is coming down in concert, all at once, as though it is finely tuned to happen this way. I am not an investment expert, so my question to others is this. Is it possible for people like Soros who have more money than most nations, to invest large amounts of money in world markets and then, to manipulate those markets for political purposes? If this is possible, then what political end would those people want to achieve with this? Could it be that they see Barack Obama as President of the world? This sounds a little crazy to me but in such a confusing environment, trust is lost, and to have understanding of how our own Congressional leaders allowed Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to loot our own country, who knows what else is going on? Forgive me for my lack of understanding if this is stupid..My Dad is in very bad shape with heart problems and I expect him to leave us any time. All this is very stressful.
What a coincidence! That's the same night I have scheduled to rearrange my sock drawer.
Choices... choices... Watch Obama or rearrange my socks? Priority ranking says - go with the socks.
He thinks he is Roosevelt.
I hope this backfires. Things will get way worse if this clown gets into the Oval Office.
Mmmmmm, pie.
Hey, that's racist.
we should get rush to buy thirty minutes right after the messiah to poke holes in all the lies he is going to spew
He is going to attempt to “revise” what we have learned about “The One”.
Monday Night Football
Actually Rush could buy 30 minutes at the same time but on ABC and then we could compare ratings!
I just wonder if the networks would sell it to him
The lying dems pray for bad economic times so they can wag fingers yet all the while it is them that are destroying our economy.
Their lies MUST be exposed.
Must be an ear thing...
Poor me my VCR doesnt work and I wont be home to watch it pity.
