PRUDEN: Smells from the shadows
The Washington Times ^ | October 10, 2008 | Wesley Pruden

Posted on 10/09/2008 8:33:31 PM PDT by BAW

Something odd is going on. The Obama campaign boasts of a landslide in the making even as his polling lead slips a point or two, and there's anger bordering on rage when John McCain and Sarah Palin raise questions about Barack Obama's judgment in his unexplored past in Chicago.

An investigation of ACORN, a cabal of "political activists" hired to register voters in the neighborhoods where few friends of John McCain abide has now spread to 10 states. Investigators discovered that the entire offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys had signed up to vote in Las Vegas, unless it turns out that someone forged their signatures to make a quota. The rules for this game were written in Chicago.

The senator's campaign only wants to talk about the economy, and who can blame him? Wall Street is tanking to uncharted depths, banking is at a standstill and fear stalks Main Street and all the avenues and boulevards running across it. But Sen. Obama wants certain questions about the economy, and how it got this way, declared off-limits. Harry Reid, the leader of the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate, declares questions about Franklin Raines, his stewardship of Fannie Mae and his relationship with the senator to be racist because both men "are African-American."

Sen. Obama, who has tried to avoid questions about his associations with shady Chicago figures, was asked again Thursday, this time by a television talking head, about William Ayers, the '60s terrorist and bomb-thrower with whom Republicans say he "palled around."

What John needs to do is have Mitt walk out on stage at his next rally and announce him as the new Sec of the Treasury. The polls would move then!

An investigation of ACORN...this story is starting to get traction - even CNN carried a fairly balanced review of it a couple times today - sent a reporter to Indiana to talk to election officials looking at phoney registration forms submitted by ACORN - even the Democrat board member called them "a fraud", and the story mentioned that Obama had given Acorn $800,000.00 to help with "voter registration" - no wonder his campaign is freaking out......

Greta was talking about this tonight and evidently the Ohio Secretary of State is an in the tank for Obama and is stalling for time as the Republicans only have one more week to challenge the process.

This Obama is a dirty little bastardo.

I’d think that all the highly paid talking heads, commentators, executives, etc. would be alarmed at where their liberal sympathies have taken their bank accounts. Reality can be a cold wake up slap in the face.

“evidently the Ohio Secretary of State is an in the tank for Obama”

The Ohio Secretary of State should know that he/she can be indicted.

There was even a report on tonight’s ABC news in Chicago about vote fraud in Indiana. They showed a group of high school kids going thru the registrations—that’s how they are checking for fraud??!! They mentioned there were several registrations in the same handwriting, or some made in fictional names like the restaurant Jimmy Johns. Of course, some official from Gary and another from Acorn had to object that these charges were just attempts to disenfranchise voters and that the Republicans are making up stuff because they are worried about losing Indiana.

According to Dick Morris (so take it for what it's worth) Obama may be in big trouble because he peaked a couple weeks too soon. Morris believes that Obama only wins if people are focused on his opponent and not him. Now that Obama is the frontrunner all of the focus will shift to him and like during the democrat primary Obamas popularity starts crumbling when he is perceived as the winner.

Timing folks, timing.
So what if the wheels fall off on November 6 or 7th?
Does anyone really believe that at this conveniently late date an election might be postponed or somehow saved because the courts know of several thousand bogus registrations?

I do know one thing, when nothing is as it seems, anything seems plausible; and this election is setting new records.

If we ever return to a society that allows free exchange of ideas, that actually provides objectivity in research, 2008 will be a very popular study.

I agree, one more under the bus and the wheels will come completely off! Who's next? My money's on Ayers.

Fred Thompson? How about Sec of “Education” for only as long as it takes to close out the books.

If the State of Utah can do without these FedGov cretins, then I suspect everyone could.

And bring back the Sec of War, and we might actually win one once in a while.... hey - this is kinda fun.

I have a question...WHY HASN’T ANYONE INTERVIEWED AYERS ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH OBAMA??? I mean, it’s not like the guy is in hiding..he’s a teacher, for God’s sake. Wouldn’t that take care of it???
