The Annenbergs did not give money to Bill Ayers.
The gave 387 million to an educational advisory group headed by a man named Gregorian who had responsibility for distributing it to the nation’s largest school systems…Chicago being one of those. Applications were received and one of those awards went to Chicago. 2 groups in Chicago applied: 1 was led by Mayor Daley. The other was a group with a rep from Chicago University (Ayers), and a rep from 2 each educations foundations in Chicago. The 2nd group won out. That’s how Ayers slipped in, under cover as the Univ. of Chicago rep.
In short, Annenberg was 80 – 90 years old at the time, and he was delegating the actual bookwork after he made general awards of large sums of money.

William Ayers was "just a guy who lives in my neighborhood." that neighborhood would be Morningside Heights, NY where they met in 1982.......
They have been joined at the hip ever since.
