(CNN) A prominent surrogate for John McCain on Thursday raised Barack Obama's admitted cocaine use as a teenager and said the Illinois senator should speak candidly about it to the American people.
Speaking to Dennis Miller, a comedian and conservative radio talk show host, former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating said Obama should be more forthright about his background and what he called his "very extreme" record.
"He ought to admit, You know, I've got to be honest with you. I was a guy of the street. I was way to the left. I used cocaine. I voted liberally, but I'm back at the center,'" Keating, a co-chair of McCains campaign, said Obama should tell voters. "I mean, I understand the big picture of America. But he hasn't done that."
An aide to John McCain said Keating was not directed by the campaign to make the comments.
"We didnt ask him to do it, the aide said. He didnt clear it with us, but obviously hes read Senator Obamas books.

Two words: Larry Sinclair.
This kind of stuff isn’t going to derail BO’s campaign. Better to talk about his inexperience, socialist agenda, hatred of whites, hatred of America, and his fundamental disagreement with the U.S. Constitution and capitalism.
Not only did Hussein Obama use drugs.......He is a real “DOWNER”
Osama response: “I’m not a coke addict...I just like the may it smells.”
should be “way it smells”
Gee, I wonder if CNN would begin this way if a Democrat politician said something nasty about McCain?
Why can’t both be done at the same time? Geez. In every thread I’ve read today, a poster points out that questions about The One’s character are not going to work - better stick to the issues. How can you believe what a candidate says about issues if he/she has questionable character? It’s all tied together Case in point - Bill Clinton.
Its not either / or. I say all of the above.
I totally agree with you, moreover, it scares me that they are even doing this. A campaign would not be using this type of stuff unless their own internal polls are not all that strong. You do not go negative like this.
And for good measure, he had two mentors that were considerably older than him that were into gay sex (and most other forms of sex too).
The first, Frank Marshall Davis wrote a book “Sex Rebel” about his libertine experiences.
The second, Ayers, promoted a “smash monogamy” agenda to destroy family values and get people over their sexual taboos. On one occasion he allegedly forced his girlfriend to have sex with his roommate and his brother, he also admitted to gay encounters.
So, draw your own conclusions, and maybe Larry Sinclair is more credible than we first thought
I’m sort of surprised that this hasn’t been brought up and explored. I remember the MSM having an absolute field day over the fact that President Bush is a recovering alcoholic.
and don’t forget Obama’s poor judgment
BULL! Miller's a liberal.
Campbelle brown is so upset about this. She and some of her other news anchors seem to think it’s risky for McCain. They are so worried that he might lose because of this (rolling eyes).
She is also concerned at the tone of the of the campaign stops for McCain and Palin. Such anger, she says. This people are a joke. Let’s ramp it up a notch and really get them concerned for a McCain loss..
Of course both should be done. Sarah should hit hard on associations and McCain should hit hard on Obama the socialist. At the end they should meet in the middle and say Obama’s associations led him to socialism and now he wants to socialize America because of it.
Simple
Don’t worry about it.
Obama wouldn’t be campaining in PA unless his internal polling suggested he had to. He wouldn’t in WI. If he were up by 10 in VA he wouldn’t need to be there.
Bottom line, no one knows the real Obama and if he is going to be the next President people have a right to know about his past and his connections...What shaped his policies and thinking
If the MSM picks up this story, it still gets the fact that Obama has admitted cocaine use out to the public. This will bleed him a little bit, just as the revelation of Bush’s DUI cost him in 2000. I don’t know about anybody else, but if Obama admitted it in a book, it meant that too many people had witnessed him do it for him to even attempt to cover it up. And while I believe that marijuana use has become somewhat accepted in today’s society, I think cocaine is looked at in darker terms.
HERE HE IS BEHIND BRADY playing grab a$$ with Schumer...
