DOES MARK WARNER'S COMMENTS FROM SEVERAL YEARS AGO CHANGE YOUR MIND IN THE SENATE RACE?
|
He previously denied this to the Richmond Times Dispatch until now the audio had not been recovered.
Well today we got a win for Jim Gilmore in the VA Senate. He won the Debate last Friday in Roanoke and today the morning talk show host Jimmy Barret played Mark Warner’s Maccaca Moment and talked about it and posted this question on his page. Freep if you wish. This story is slowly but surely breaking locally.
What’s with the poll numbers. They don’t add up.
No. I wasn't voting for Warner, anyway.
58.57 %
is the mainstream media playing it every single freaking day like the did “macca”? probably not.
Yeah. Laz, perhaps you could explain these poll numbers?
Yes. It’s his “macaca” moment. 24.09 %
No. It was years ago and it’s old news. 10.22 %
No. And Warner’s right. 5.84 %
Ah. Guess we’re winning then. =]
Seriously, Warner did a terrible job here in Virginia fiscally speaking.
Ping!
Was Jimmy on this morning?? Dang, I missed it...for some reason I thought Juan Conde was filling in for him today and tomorrow.
It looks like someone on the 0 campaign has targeted his show because that ad playing over and over makes listening almost impossible.
Gilmore was just as bad.
Ran against the car tax and didn’t even eliminate the gottdamn thing. Should have nominated Virgil, or hell, Ollie.
At least they could make a good fight of it.
Gilmore is just another wasted opportunity.
I think the beaurocrats sabotaged Gilmore. VA governors don’t have any time to learn the ropes.
A couple of responses to both of you.
Gilmore tried to push the car tax through. He was stopped by the General Assembly. In the last year of his administratin we were hit with the dot com bubble burst and 9/11. Warner used all of that to cry “crisis” when there was none.
As for Virginia Governors learning the ropes. Yes, they’re at a disadvantage with the term limit. But Gilmore had four years as Attorney General as well, giving him more Virginia executive experience than Warner.
All that being said, the truth remains that Jim Gilmore is losing because of....Jim Gilmore.
Thank you for the information. I mainly keep my eyes on DC. But as for our state — the Virginia RNC needs to get it together.
Va. state politics is always a minefield.
Made the mistake of living in NOVA about 15 years ago.
Will never live in the state again (sorry, I won’t call it a ‘commonwealth’).
A state that prides itself on creating a “good business climate” by placing every b.s. picayune tax directly on its citizens. Geez, the car tax was galling—every single year, arggh!
Not to mention the state has no shame in using law enforcement as auxillary tax collectors.
Sorry about the rant, bad memories.
Agreed.
Please don’t judge the rest of Virginia by your Northern Virginia experience. But you’re right that we’re screwed up on many levels.
Sorry, to come off bitter.
The west/southwest is beautiful and great. NOVA was the source of my problems. Moved there for school, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed straight from the country.
Arlington county has this cute little car registration program—which, I assumed (that word) applied to parking on public streets.
Anyway—police sneak into my apartment buildings parking lot, ID every non-compliant vehicle, and wait for people to drive to school/work ticketing them as they leave their garage!
Being an idiot, I tried to protest on principle and you can guess the rest...
I think that ‘NOVA mindset’ was behind the ridiculous ticket law a couple of years back—
credit to the citizens for turning it back!
Not a problem. Joe McCain was not the first to refer to Arlington and Alexandria as communist territory.
I’m familiar with the car registration. We lived in Arlington for 8 years. One year, just after New Years I got a ticket on like January 3. The car had not been moved since Christmas. And the ticketing officer had to clean snow off of my car to check the sticker.
