According to those I know who have quit for more than 20 years (family members)....sadly, that answer is no.

I used to hear that before I quite smoking. But for me that hasn't been the case at all. Since my late teens I had smoked nearly 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for 17 years.

Then came a major wake up call: A trip to the emergency room because of severe chest pains revealed evidence of a heart attack--or so I was told by the attending physician. I was ordered to the ICU immediately, where I spent the worst night of my life. I vowed to God and the world never to smoke again if I got out of there.

My cardiologist showed up the next morning and said that the emergency room physician had made a big mistake. In fact, there was no evidence of a heart attack. Talk about relief.

The doctor's mistake was a blessing for which I'm deeply grateful. With the help of the patch I stopped smoking immediately. And that was in December 1997. I've not touched a cig since and have had almost no cravings in years.

Wow!! I guess God was trying to tell you something!! You are the 1st person I “know” who has said almost no cravings. You’re very lucky!
