28 Days Left -- What did you do TODAY to help Republicans win?
Free Republic Exclusive | 10/8/08 | Antoninus

Posted on 10/08/2008 7:09:32 AM PDT by Antoninus

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sick and tired of the hand-wringing defeatist doom-and-gloom losers that seem to haunt FR these days like Jim McGreevey at a turnpike rest-stop.

Therefore, with your indulgence and that of the mods, I would like to start a sequence of threads counting down to election day whereupon we can record what we are doing in a POSITIVE way to help elect McCain/Palin and Republicans and defeat Obama/Biden and the Democrats.

The following actions do not count:

1. Writing a whining vanity on FR about how the McCain campaign needs to change now or it's all over.

2.) Posting an article on FR highlighting a "bad news" poll.

3.) Posting comments on FR whining about unfair media coverage.

There are a lot of positive, meaningful things that many of us are and should be doing to help achieve victory. Much of this involves volunteering for the campaign and getting out into your community with the truth about Obama and his abysmal record, inexperience, and shady associates.

The media won't do it, so it's up to us. Are you up to the challenge?

It's my hope that these threads will serve as a clearing-house for such ideas and an inspiration for those folks who are still sitting on their butts to get up and do something!

the GOP base is finally getting fired up

What base is that?

From the numbers I see, it has been devastated and is down below 25%. As opposed to nearly 39% in past elections.

McCain is a socialist, just not to the same degree as his opponent.

He nominated Sarah Palin to be his VP. No socialist would ever do something like that.

McCain is getting my vote, my support, and my contributions because he gave us someone in Sarah to carry the torch. This is an aspect of party politics in which George W. Bush, frankly, failed miserably.

You just can't resist this thread, can you? To you, optimism and conservatives working toward victory is like holy water on a vampire.

You're obviously nothing but a seagull.

No, you're not. If you were a conservative, you'd be supporting the conservative candidate - Gov. Palin.

Gov. Palin is the only conservative in this race among the top two parties. I hope she is around for a long time. However, I'm not in the habit of voting for the VP and ignoring the top of the ticket as simply a "tag-along".

You're likely one who throws a fit when you don't get things exactly your way.

If you mean by thowing a fit, doing something like making a personal attack when discussing an issue, I hope that I'm above that.

The truth is.. (you want the truth don't you?)..
The truth is O'bama won't be as bad as many here think he will be..
AND McLaim wouldn't be as good as the same people think he would have been..

Because they both are manipulated by the same people..
Social Security(SSA) is already PURE socialism.. as pure as pure can get..
And is the base for many other entitlements just as PURE..

American colleges have been brain washing and graduating hard socialists for many decades.. of both genders but mostly women.. Most democrats ARE women..

I intend to go get a McCain/Palin sign for my yard, cut it up so Palin’s name is on top, then put it out front.

I would love to see a daily OPTIMISTS thread, such as this one (and please PING me if you set this up). My suggestion is that no-one respond to the negative, demoralizing, D&G posts such as I'm pasting below. It just encourages these infiltrators and energizes them to keep on.

“I agree I am sick to death of whinny vanity posts. I know you said that the mods should stop the posting of these - so does that mean you what the mods to take yours down also?”

“Sorry, I’m a conservative, not a Republican. I avoided saying what I really think about the Republican party and their presidential candidate - sorry best I can do.”

“I did nothing.... I currently have no intention to do anything. I firmly believe that this country, in all it's ignorance, and both worthless political party's will get what they deserve and I am giving it to them for no charge or fee.”

Amen! Patriots this is the kind of vanity we need to see more of. No more sniveling. There’s a month to go. That’s an eternity in political terms.

This morning I gave my colleagues a pep talk telling them its all about turn-out. There's a reason why the media keeps telling us its all over but the voting - its madness. They want us doubting ourselves. The adoring crowds, stories all over the media, magazine covers, human interest styled puff pieces; the fact that this thing is even considered a "dead-heat" is nothing more than miraculous. If this was over, Obama would have been up 15-points MINIMUM weeks ago and according to Zogby, he’s just up 2! I say damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!

I RUN A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN WEBSITE CALLED CROSS ACTION NEWS AND I GET UP DAILY TO DOCUMENT THE NEWS THAT MATTERS TO VOTERS AND I USE FREE REPUBLIC TO EXPOSE TO MY READERS THE TRAVESTY THAT IS OBAMA.
I SPEAK TO PEOPLE REGULARLY (WITH OUT GETTING IN THEIR FACE) AND EXPLAIN IN LOGICAL WAYS THE FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OBAMA (SOCIALISM) AND MCCAIN (CAPITALISM).

Who did a personal attack? I specifically said "like." You know, what the definition of "is" is. It's not my fault if your guilt is peeking through. :-D

But if your purty little head is so overly sensitive, might I suggest you stop going around smacking beehives? That way you won't have to run home to Mama crying that you were stung by a bee.

You could have just ignored this thread. Instead, you showed up to intentionally act like a punk. Therefore, I'm treating you like one.

Any choice other than Palin would have McC hopelessly behind in the polls. I’m not convinced he picked her because he likes her stance, as opposed to picking her because the base likes her stance.

Anyway, yes I’ll vote McC - only because he sucks less, and there’s a chance Palin will become POTUS.

You are going to be a conservative who lives in a country run by socialists if the rest of us don't pull your chestnuts out of the fire.

Getting McCain elected is going to save us from the socialists?

He's still blaming corporate greed for the country's economic issues, and supports cap-and-trade legislation to control green house gas emissions. Pulling my "chestnuts" out of a furnace only to throw them into a bonfire is not all that appealing to me.

And you can add "woefully misinformed" or "blatant liar" to my previous post.

The formidable GOP GOTV operation (which, thankfully, is run by the RNC rather than the McCain campaign) still exists and is better funded than ever. Obama brags about his operation, but he is merely doing things that the GOP started doing six years ago. Contrary to all the propaganda we are hearing, I don't see the Dems having any significant turnout advantage in this election, and that means that I remain optimistic that McCain will win.

One of my biggest worries was that all that money the Obamessiah was spending was actually going toward a comprehensive get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort. And I'm sure a lot of it is. But I have been pleased to see the rather tepid results so far in Ohio. I think that speaks well for McCain's chances.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/interactives/independents/data-party-identification.html

Note how stable party affiliation is from election to election. Do you see any 14 point drops anywhere for any election since 1984? Do you see any advantages for either party of more than 4 points since 1988? Look at the 2006 election in particular, which was terrible for the GOP. Dems had only a three point advantage.

Do you still think that GOP turnout this year will be only 25%?

If you plan to do more of these “focused on winning” threads and have an associated ping list, please put me on that list.
