Who is Your Favorite Pundit Right Now?
William Kristol ^ | Oct. 7, 2008 | Cinnamon Girl

Posted on 10/07/2008 4:12:18 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl

Seems like some folks are on the ins, and some folks are on the outs (like Peggy Noonan.) Right now, this week, I think Bill Kristol is the best pundit/commentator going. He has been gently reassuring and generally upbeat. He has not declared Obama the winner or that he intends to vote for Obama, as some surprisingly have. "Can they Catch Up?" from the Weekly Standard is just one example. Another is his recent phone interview with Sarah Palin "The Wright Stuff." He has been a voice of conservative reason, while some of his fellow commentators have been watching too many Obama-kinder videos on You Tube. Kristol's approach has been pragmatic-- advising McCain and Palin on what he thinks they can do to win, and level-headed-- recognizing that other candidates have come back and won after being down in the polls as much as McCain allegedly is.

Yeay, Bill.

Great choices.

But be prepared to have someone at Democratic Underground report
"That 'BookmanTheJanitor' over at Free Republic is a racist that
discriminates against Asian, Hispanic, Caucasian and Albino commentators!".

Bill Kristol...hands down. Always honest. One may not like his honesty but...we can trust him.

Lately, Brit Hume sucks. So does Fox. You can definitely count on them for the bad news. Bill Kristol right now is a stalwart, better than his pal, Fred, whom I usually support. Aso great: Steyn, Sowell, Carpenter, Rush, Coulter, Krauthammer (he’s warmed up on Sarah). Noonan also sucks. She has for a while (badmouthed Sarah).

always love Sean this time in the election cycle. this is my list.

Michelle Malkin (always negative, always truthful, always credible)
Mark Steyn (an international flavor and voice for a very patriotic view
Mark Levin (so good on a rant - so viciously pleasant when he is on a roll)
Victor David Hanson (historical view on current stuff)
Hot Air (the new conservative Drudge)
The Anchoress (such a sweet lilting republican voice)
Ann Althouse (the left leaning/conservative thinking law voice)
Power Line (so factual, so non=emotional so narrow minded and yet nice)
Ace Of Spades (bad language, but great take on stuff)
Rachel Lucas (bad language , her her screeds rock)

Currently I am hating on the elite punditry
NRO the corner - hate them all - In the tank for Peggy Noonan
Fred Barrnes/Charles Krauthammer - both off my list forever for Sarah treatment
Hugh Hewitt - he thinks he is sooooo special because he is a lawyer (snort)
George Will - yuck and yikes

OF COURSE RUSH AND FREE REPUBLIC ARE LIFE SAVERS!!!!!!!!!

The question was ‘who is your favorite pundit right NOW?’ Different pundits shine at different times. I think right now Kristol is shining. ;)

What tack would that be? I haven’t heard him in a couple of weeks.

Usually, he is so spot on his is the last word.

“The question was ‘who is your favorite pundit right NOW?’ Different pundits shine at different times. I think right now Kristol is shining. ;)”

If you think Bill’s recent support of the socialist bill makes him better now,

Than his past support of Harriet Miers, Dubia ports and Amensty Bill,

The only thing I can assume is that you have no idea how BIG that bailout was or you are living in lala land. I will assume you don’t really know how BIG the bailout is. So, let me help with a perspective.

The ENTIRE Iraq/Afgan war costs to date is about 10 Billion Dollars

With the additional 150 Billion the Senate added makes this bailout about 85 TIMES What The Expensive Iraq/Afgan war has cost to date.

What Bill has done is to support... basically an 850 Billion Tax Increase on you, me and your children. If you think that makes Bill look good.

The Only thing I can say to you is don’t hold your breath waiting on a tax cut.

I clearly said “lately”.....as in this election season.

As far as his take on the (recent) bailout is concerned, I certainly didn’t agree with it. But then again I found myself disagreeing with more than a few conservative economists/pundits I’ve respected for a long time on that issue as well.

He is often brilliant, but his latest word is to tell us how dazzled he is by Obama: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/10/obama_passing_the_reagan_thres.html

Buchanan always has something interesting to say so I find myself looking forward to hearing him even though I don't always agree. For some reason I like his voice too.

I like listening to Krauthammer as he seems more intelligent and thoughtful than many of the other commentators. Don't always agree with him either.

Lou Dobbs used to be OK but he's turning into a cranky old man. All the CNN staff who appear on his show seem to be afraid of him.

As for Mort Zuckerman, I don't think his political commentary really stands out, but I wish I had listened to him more on the economy.

I read that it cost 10 Billion. Did not research it. However, I was way off and your numbers are much closer to accurate.

My apologies

No problem, mountainman.

And btw, we see eye-to-eye on the bailout, Dubai Ports, amnesty, etc. In general, I’m not a big fan of Kristol’s politics, but he’s been good at exposing Obama this election season.
