PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08
Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3
While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

I’m screaming at the current caller. A Obama supporter. He’s a grad student and wants to know what the candidates will do to help him pay his student loans. Oh wait!! Let me answer this one!!! You do the same thing I did. You get a damn job and pay them.

Ive found it difficult to read all the posts but did anyone even notice that Obama wants to FNE people who cant insure their children? How can this kind of thing go right over the peoples heads? And he wants to FINE small businesses who cant insure their employees! Is anyone listening to this crap! McCain scored big on that one. I loved it when he asked "did we hear how much the fine would be" and Obama was glaring at him. LOL.

Yeah, everyone noticed that the debate thread was flying. :-)

Yes, moi...and Mac was brilliant to point it out. It brought back memories of Hillarycare. I thought Mac did quite well in slamming Barry on stuff like that. Barry just blamed Bush.

I don’t think the general population tuned in.

From 150 questions, they were all picked by Brokaw.

Is it just me, or did McCain perhaps blow it all on this proposal to buy up all the bad mortgages?
It was not the game changing assertion we were looking for...

Debates are rarely a changing moment of the campaign unless one candidate makes a grave mistake. The last 72 hours political news have been coming from McCain-Palin attacking Obama regarding his connections with terrorist Bill Ayres and it has badly damaged Obama. This debate will not change this story and McCain-Palin are going to further destroy Obama on the campaign trail and in the eyes of real voters.

I want Mccain to win this debate but if you don’t know the truth, Obama may have looked good to some. I haven’t had time to go back thru the posts but did you notice that JM’s mike kept picking up his breathing? I thought that was distracting. Anyway I guess it depends now on if voters want a CIC that has experience in time of war or if they just want “free” stuff.

I wonder if it’s too late to switch the ticket to Palin/McCain

“We have a spoiled country of iPodders, iPhoners, Crackberry texters, and Beamer drivers whose main interest is their Netflix queue. They want the US to be “sophisticated” like Europe. The Democratic Party has positioned itself well to be the party that is hip and trendy to appeal to these.
Regardless of who wins they are going to have a tough four years and their celebrity idols will not be able to help them. The new car smell will wear off Obama pretty quick at the unemployment office.”
Look. I just spent a week in California. I asked many... why do you support Obama. Incredibly, they look at him as a fashion statement. THEY would look good to the world wearing a BLACK president. Its all about them. Its image. Its ego. But they never have an answer regarding policy. That's why Arnold is begging for $7 Billion from the Fed. They are clueless.

It will increase the excitement for Sarah's Rallies, which is where the real political meat is and has been coming from, anyway. So the people going to those rallies can vote twice if they get twice as excited? Hmm....
No, the people need to get fired up in the swing states and get out to UNDECIDEDS.
