While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

Luntz’s groups are always tilted to the left. That’s why, when they were unanimously in favor of Palin, I thought it was amazing. He must have let his staff actually get real people for that one.

I don't find that to be the case. I've seen MANY of his groups in the past that were tilted more to the right. I'm not sure, but I think Hannity used to refer to Frank Luntz as a "Republican pollster"...

Fred Barnes was so right. There was time to talk about guns, immigration, abortion, etc. That would have made it much more interesting. This sounded like a rehash of the first debate. Sadly McCain did nothing to change the game I think. If those polls are right then he will remain behind.

Couldn't agree with Fred more. Brokaw lost a golden opportunity if he truly wanted a fair and interesting debate to mix it up but that wasn't his intent.

What's interesting is the fellow on the CNN focus panel who said he thought McCain won this debate whereas Obama won the last one. However he added he's heard nothing new from either candidate and IMHO the fault lies with the Brokaw.

did you note the focus group was mostly young people and a couple of blacks. THe older people all liked McCain but seemed overwhelmedby the youth.
